The Lake District is renowned for being the most beautiful corner of England and this full-day tour introduces you to just that; a magnificent scenery of mountains, valleys and lakes from the south to the north.

As you travel, admire the rolling countryside and craggy fells, and hear interesting facts from your guide about the Lake District's history and geology, and the people and events that have shaped this much-loved region. Follow the banks of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake; and make your first stop in the lovely village of Ambleside. Stretch your legs around the pretty streets and then continue to Rydal Water for a photo stop.

After capturing the scenery around this mirror-glass lake, continue through the picture-postcard village of Grasmere and ascend Kirkstone Pass, the region's highest pass, on route to Thirlmere, a reservoir formed from the merging of two natural lakes. Admire this picturesque expanse of water, and then travel through the lush Borrowdale Valley and past Bassenthwaite Lake.

Climb the rugged slopes of Honister Pass to the chocolate-box village of Buttermere and then drive by Crummock Water to Keswick. Here, pull up to enjoy free time for lunch (own expense) and explore this delightful market town as you wish.

Back aboard your minivan, venture further around the undulating hills to Castlerigg Stone Circle, an ancient circle of 48 stones. Take photos of this age-old site and learn how the stones were probably set here in around 3,000 BC to form a ceremonial site. During your trip, visit one of the area’s pretty waterfalls, and relax and take in the awe-inspiring views of the high fells, woodlands and villages, and absorb the sense of timeless beauty around you.

Your tour ends with drop-off back at the original start point.

Save yourself the worry of driving - admire the scenery and learn lots!

A great way of seeing a lot of the northern part of the Lake district without having to worry about driving and parking. Derek, our guide, was very knowledgeable and gave lots of interesting information throughout the journey. There were lots of good photo stops - it was out of season so we were able to get to Ashness Bridge and surprise viewpoint. There is amazing scenery at Honister Pass, Kirkstone Pass and at the Castlerigg stone circle. There is minimal walking involved so it is suitable for all. We had 90minutes for lunch in Keswick and there are a range of cafes and shops there; and 30mins in Grasmere which is a lovely village. Mountain Goat seem very professional and well-organised with good COVID-safety regulations in place.

This full day tour exceeded our expectations despite the drizzle. We saw so much more than we would have done if we had driven around on our own. Elliott, our driver and guide, was very knowledgeable and entertaining … even his tip about where to buy the best sausage roll was spot on. Fully recommend these Mountain Goat tours.

Whole tour was fantastic. Tony our driver was great. Commentary throughout the tour was informative and at times amusing. Lots of stops to take in the vistas and get some photos. Also a few sips fir comfort beaks and lunch. My wife and I are so glad we booked this trip as we only had one full day in this beautiful place.

Wow !!! What a scenic tour. From Duncan our very friendly and knowledgeable guide. To the literal standing on the edge to look down to the ground level to look up. Both photos included. And the stunning view of Lake Windermere from Troutbeck. Value for money and well recommended

Highly recommended 👌!! Duncan was safe driver and professional guide. He explained us local history and anecdotes. It was very interesting!! If we didn't join this tour, we wouldn't know... Also he took Surprise View near Keswick which was breathtaking!! Road is narrow and quite tricky for drivers. Have a one day break and join this tour is very good idea. We had a great time. Thank you, Duncan!!

    10 Lakes Tour- Mountain Goat
    Simon_L
    , Sep 2021
Our tour guide for the 10 lakes tour, was Mark. We were the last ones onto the bus- and Mark greeted us with a warm welcome and this carried on throughout the early parts of the journey (whilst he wasn’t getting much back from the early rising passengers) Mark was absolutely brilliant not only on his Lake District knowledge - but knowing his audience and being very likeable making for a relaxed and enjoyable trip. This tour was exactly what we hoped for covering the main attractions and best views all within a days trip, and limited amount of walking-whilst still feeling Like we weren’t constricted to the bus. We had regular Stop Offs and flexibility To do our own thing- whilst our tour guide was always on hand To answer questions and give recommendations. The mood of the trip was excellent , helped by Marks good humour and topical jokes. Absolutely loved the trip and very good value, and enhanced by a great tour guide.
