Make your way to Queens Wharf in central Wellington in time for an 11.30am flight departure. After listening to the safety briefing, follow your pilot down to the waterfront helipad and climb aboard for a thrilling helicopter ride.

Gaze down over the city as you soar over the harbor, then head northeast towards the Rimutaka mountain range. Keep your camera to hand as you swoop over the Orongorongo Valley and circle Palliser Bay, before landing at the Wharekauhau Country Estate.

Your hosts will be waiting for you on arrival to whisk you off into the Grand Lodge, the elegant dining room where you’ll be served lunch. After taking your seats, get ready for an unforgettable 5-course lunch of gourmet cuisine, prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients grown on the farm and accompanied by fine regional wines.

With your appetite sated, hop back in the helicopter for the return journey to Wellington. Enjoy a different route back to the city, passing along the Pencarrow coast, from where the views stretch all the way to the South Island and the Southern Alps. Finally, touchdown in Wellington around 2pm and make your own way back to your hotel.

I genuinely hope my experience won't happen to anybody else. With the email confirmation and the payment has been charged through my acc. I showed up on the day on time with my partner and hugely disappointed. There is no booking for us. I literally shocked, the best they could do is reschedule for the next day. And told me that I could cancel my booking at any time. I thought tourism industry is struggling during COVID, obviously, the customers is not their priority.

“We are extremely disappointed to have received the poor review of your experience for our product. As was explained to you on the day, a response had been sent to your viator account explaining that you could not be accommodated on the day of the original booking. Unfortunately we do not receive any direct contact details from Viator and have to rely on the communication avenue that viator provide. On the day our office staff very quickly contacted the lodge and were able to secure you a lunch booking the very next day, this did come with added cost to us as we then utilised a larger helicopter to accommodate you at no additional cost to yourselves. We do not receive any payment from viator until the booking is complete and so any funds are held with viator and not with us. We have broached the subject of communication with clients previously with viator, and will do so again in light of your experience. We hope that this reply goes to some length to explain the process, and that the actual flight and lunch was overall a positive experience for you both.
