This was such a touching experience for our family. Our tour guide Mr. Sullivan made it even better than expected. His knowledge of history and of the cemetery was impressive. He moved us along at a great speed and kept us hydrated during the hot weather. He had a great personality that kept my teenage boys attention throughout the tour. The changing of the guards was so interesting. Watching the way the guards walk, check their guns, tap their feet, and speak was so cool to see. We got the perfect spot to see it up close thanks to our tour guide Mr. Sullivan. I’d do this tour again and would highly recommend our tour guide.

Our tour guide, Jim, as significant family history related to Arlington cemetery, and he is an excellent historian. I’ve been on the tram tour at the cemetery two other times, but this was by far the greatest experience. We learned so very much!

A great tour guide

While the changing of the guard ceremony was the most memorable, it was Paul, our tour leader, who made the experience unforgettable. His knowledge of Arlington was impressive, but I was especially impressed with his historical knowledge of the entire DC area. He was informative, witty and just generally enjoyable to be with. Paul was a wonderful guide; thanks for a great tour!

Guide was very knowledgeable and personable. The changing of the guards was amazing to watch! Significant amount of uphill walking required, bring water! The guide supplied small bottles of water as well but suggest bringing a bottle with you.

Hot day for a walking tour
Andrea_B
, Aug 2022
Our guide Paul was great however- the cemetery has a tour that’s on golf cart/trolley things that explain things just as much. It wasn’t our guides fault that it was literally 1000° but that made the walking tour rough…. Especially when this cart tour thing was doing the same thing. Like I said- tour guide was great, just didn’t think tour was as necessary after seeing what the cemetery had to offer

Great Experience!

Our tour guide Paul was very knowledgeable and kindly offered water and snacks during the tour. We enjoyed seeing the changing of the guard ceremony and the eternal flame for JFK. It is a lot of walking up hills. It was VERY HOT, so if you go on a hot day bring a lot of water!! It was a great experience visiting a place that honors the military.

Changing of the guard. Was a moving experience, I brought my two grandsons in hope of what the public school system don’t teach they could learn here. And understand what great sacrifices were given for our freedoms.

We had Jim as our tour guide and he was fantastic! The other group didn’t show up so we ended up with a private tour. Jim was very knowledgeable and had tons of stories that added to the experience. He was prepared with extra sunscreen, water and snacks. All around a great experience!

Amazing 2nd Time Around

Paul was AMAZING!! This was my second tour of Arlington. My first tour, several years ago was a trolley tour. It was moving and informative but this tour exceed that by far; it was so much more “up close” and “hands on”. I felt more like a participant instead of simply a spectator. Paul was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. I couldn’t recommend this tour any higher. There is a lot of walking but if you are physically able you will find it worth every step.

Paul was a fantastic guide! He was so knowledgeable and mixed his facts with an entertaining sense of humor, so we felt that we learned a lot without feeling like we were back at school. We were also impressed that he was carrying bottles of water, susncreen and granola bars - essentials for a hot DC summer's day! We highly recommend taking this tour as we felt it enhanced our understanding and overall experience of Arlington National Cemetery.
