Palace of Versailles, Place d'Armes, 78000 Versailles, France
Begin your full-day exploration of the UNESCO-listed Versailles with a walk through the expansive Versailles Gardens, one of the most visited places in the country.

The huge space, covering 1,977 acres (800 hectares), blooms with roughly 210,000 flowers planted each year. Learn more about the history of the gardens and how they were used from your expert guide.

Take advantage of skip-the-line access to avoid waiting at the entrance to the Versailles Palace, where you'll go on the next stop on your guided tour. Learn how this extravagant place was both a private home for the royal family and the center of political power from 1682 until 1789. Walk through the king's and queen's apartments, the fabulous Hall of Mirrors and the Royal Chapel.

Visitors who are at Versailles on a Sunday get an added bonus of seeing a fountain show in the morning in the gardens. The ornate fountain show is coordinated to a classical music soundtrack, which makes a morning walk through the gardens even more delightful.

Take a break for lunch (own expense), then follow your guide to the Grand Trianon. Louis XIV had this lodge built in 1670 to offer respite from the formal palace. Next, visit Marie Antoinette's Estate, where you'll see the Petit Trianon – the queen's private retreat – along with the French Pavilion and Queen's Hamlet.

We were lucky to get Chloe. She was an excellent guide and explained everything in detail. We learned a lot from the tour. By the end of the day our feet were complaining but it was all worth the trip.

A full and very informative day!!

I couldn't quite imagine it would take a full day-- but we started at 10 AM and ended just before 5;00 PM. Our guide Anne-Sophie was walking, talking history, so knowledgeable on all French history and kept it fun! It was often crowded in the rooms we visited on tour-- but not surprising given the number of people that visit each day. The tour groups are kept to a size that keeps a personal feel. A Great Day!

We have always wanted to see Versailles. We were fortunate to have a great guide who was incredibly knowledgeable! Without her I think we would have been very disappointed. As is now usual at most tourist sites in the world there were thousands of people all wanting to see the same things. Without someone to explain what we were looking at we would have been very disappointed. For us the best part of the visit were the grounds

All day tour was great

We took a full day tour of Versailles including the gardens on a Sunday so we could see the fountain show. Our tour guide was great and she made our trip much more interesting. The palace and gardens were beautiful but it helped knowing a bit of the history. We also enjoyed seeing the Petit Trianon and hamlet. I had some concerns about how to get to Versailles from Paris, but the RER train was pretty easy and the train station was right in front of the location where we met our guide. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking.

Our tour guide, Anne Sophie, was very knowledgeable about the history of Versailles. She transported us back in time with lots of fun facts about each of the Louis'. She kept us all together and made sure we didn't miss anything. The fountain show was beautiful. We were very happy that it was a cool day. There is a lot of walking, and the palace could get very warm in summer months. I would highly recommend this tour.

This is a must see site when visiting Paris. There was a train strike while we were there but was still able to get to Versailles by metro and bus. The guide was knowledgeable and was able to give a lot of information. We really enjoyed the gardens and fountains. We also were able to see other parts of the palace that weren't included in the tour when we had a break for lunch. This is an all-day tour that I would highly recommend.

First - BOOK EARLY. If you want an English speaking guide this is the only way to go - don't try to show up at the Palace early and wait to get in, or get a tour guide. Second - If you can do this in 2 days instead, I recommend that because this is a grueling pace and a LOT of walking aka - miles/kilometers/40K steps. I'm in excellent shape...this was exhausting. Third - Expect crowds. The guides give you headsets so you can hear them clearly, and they move QUICKLY through the rooms. Lines for food and restrooms are 20 mins long. Buy the box lunch/picnic. We were given a lunch break - but the lines were so long - no one got lunch, or water, or restrooms in the time allowed. In fact, we didn't stop for a restroom break at all, ever. Our guide did let us get some orange juice in the Hamlet, thank goodness! we wanted the lunch, but check in took so long they could not give it to us...so check in a LOT EARLIER than they say! Marie Antoinette's apartments are closed for renovation until 2018. Do the Princesses' Apartments instead, they're beautiful and hung with master works by Jean Marc Nattier. More than the Louvre here. Musical fountains were great - the guide is your best way to see them as they know which ones are on at what time - so you don't waste more walking. Great guides, excellent knowledge - If I only had 1 day, I'd do this. But it's better in 2 days. But please Viator - BATHROOM BREAKS!
