Half-Day Whale Watching Adventure from Telegraph Cove

We went in a Zodiac rather than the bigger boat, and getting into the red float suits already made this trip special for us and our two grandsons. Our skipper, Andy, was obviously experienced and shared some memories of growing up in Alert Bay as an Indigenous person. For almost an hour we searched in vain for whales in Johnstone Straight but saw only a dolphin and two sea lions, the orcas had all headed elsewhere. Rebecca, a very knowledgeable naturalist, explained their movements and told us about the marine reserve off Malcolm Island, where we headed next. We were rewarded by seeing several hump backs and a special treat- a mother that Rebecca recognized playing with her calf. The scenery was magnificent , we felt safe, and all our questions were answered. A great experience!

great crew , had a fantastic time! would not hesitate to recommend this trip to anyone. Make sure to dress warmly as it can get cold on the water ,even in summer.
