How the day will go

, Sep 2021
The day was everything that we had hoped it would be and more! The drive was long but on the way, Alfredo, our guide was very informative of how the day would go. first stop was an awesome lunch in a Mayan village along with shopping that helps support the Mayan culture and Heritage. Then on to Chichen itza! We had a guide who worked in the park who spoke english very well and was quite informative as well as patient with questions and photos. Back on the bus we went and off to the Cenote. It was gorgeous and we enjoyed the cool crisp water after the hot walk in chichen itza. We made one last stop into the Square of valladolid where I loaded up on mexican candies. The ride back to Tulum seemed like forever but also we were exhausted from the active day. It was absolutely worth it! TIP YOUR GUIDES! ALWAYS! And your driver. They certainly will earn your gratuity

Fun in the Sun

I liked our tour of the ruins. Our tour guide Gonzales was very knowledgeable and presented the history very well. I would say that they spent too much time at the first stop where we were sold crafts and also didn’t think going to the colonial town was necessary. But overall a great experience. The guides tried their best to make sure we enjoyed the experience. It is definitely a long day. Almost 12 hours depending on your stop. We were in Tulum. So plan to be with them all day.

15 min given at Cenote! Out of 8 hours.

Book this if you want to spend majority of your day at the Mayan Market and Chichen Itza and only 15min to swim in the Cenote. You literally spend 3 hours at the Mayan Market and 2 hours at Chichen Itza and 15min in the Cenote. Once we arrived at the Cenote at 5:25pm, we were told to be back at the bus at 6:25pm. Once you buy a ticket for a life vest (line long) then the long line for a locker which they might be sold out. Take a cold shower before you get in the Cenote, go down the stairs to the Cenote, you literally swim for 10 minutes and then it's time to change out of your swimsuit and leave! So disappointed in the amount of time given to spend at the Cenote. The Tour at Chichen Itza is very informative, the tour guide is very educated and fun. Be prepared to leave your hotel at 10am and get back at 9pm

Tourist trap

Terrible trip. Unfortunately it’s the easiest way to see Chichen Itzá, which is incredible; however, the rest of the trip is the worst it could be. They take you to, supposedly, a Mayan town, which is actually just a hotel with shops and keep you there to have lunch (where drinks aren’t even included). After Chichen Itzá, they take you to a cenote that literally looks like a theme park, with massive queues just to go into the water. Least authentic experience ever. They treat you as if you’re in a summer camp and you’re 10. Plus, the trip is ridiculously expensive for what it is. While the entire trip costs 70 usd, the ticket to Chichen Itzá is only 20 usd and taking into consideration the quality of the rest of the trip we don’t really know where the rest of the money goes. They also ask for 13 usd in cash before entering the bus and for tip ar the end of the trip. DO NOT DO IT.

Spend more money and take a better tour; this one isn't worth it.

I suggest paying more for a tour; it'll be well worth the money. To begin with I travel a lot and I have done multiple tours booked with Viator, but I wish I had skipped this one. The bus and guides were over an hour late to pick us up from the supermarket in Tulum. There was a group of us that had no clue what was going on. The supermarket area where you are picked up is crazy! So we began the tour two hours late. I was informed by Viator and other reviewers to wear my bathing suit because you go to the Cenote first. We didn't. We drove about an hour and a half to an obsidian factory. The entire way the guide talked about energies, vibes, and benefits of obsidian. He went so far as to talk about the benefits for women's menstrual cycles. It was uncomfortable to listen to. Once at the factory we had to watch a shaman do a ceremony (this wasn't listed in the Viator description). After that there was about 30-40 minutes to shop where venders were pretty pushy on trying to get you to buy souvenirs. The buffet lunch was good! After lunch we visited Chichen Itza. I was so disappointed. The tour was only about 45 minutes and I didn't learn anything. Our guide pointed out two structures and then said we had free time until meeting at the bus. By the time we returned to the bus it was already after 4 pm. We then went to the Cenote, but we weren't given much time there; those who swam basically returned to the bus soaking wet in their suits. We then went to the town. The town was really cute, but by this time I was completely over the day and the tour. We had about 30 minutes to grab food to eat on the bus ride back. We got to Tulum around 9:30 pm. It was a long day. I really wished I had paid more and gotten a good experience. By far this is the worst tour I've ever taken.

Very disappointed. The tour has been organised only to do shopping and the time at Chichen Itza was very very short. I would not recommand that tour to anyone. Carlos and Jesus were just too much over doing it

amazing Guides so Knowledgable

This by far has been one of the best tours I have ever done. the guides were exceptional and funny but most importantly shared sooooo much knowledge that really helped you understand Mayan culture and history beyond any book. The Mayan lands and ruins were beautiful and mesmerizing The cenote was beautiful and refreshing and while the bus travel is about 2 hours each way it’s totally worth it !

Something to make your trip memorable
Valeria_N
, Jul 2021
This was a great day trip! Everything was planned to the T and the tour guides (especially Jesus) were great at giving information while making it a fun trip. They do 1 stop on the way to Chichen Itza and 1 on the way back. They do try to sell you things but nothing is forced, the economy runs on tourism and these people are just trying to make a living. The food was also fantastic! My only complaint would be the length and I could've done without the last stop, but it was also nice to see a historic town. It is very very hot and long so make sure to bring lots of water, minimal clothing, and get a good nights rest the day before. Overall would definitely recommend, they really made it a trip to remember !

Thank you for taking the time to share about your experience. Due to the distances we can't add any extra activities and we know the Cenote is ine of the most amazing parts of the tour.
