Shima & Jambo made this whole experience a delight with their fun & interactive demonstration of the history & training/lifestyle of a Sumo wrestler. The lady who described and translated everything into English for us was very good at getting the information across.
Recommended. I would go again.
So fun!!

This was SUCH a great experience. I went on a Monday and the wrestlers were amazing. They were so thorough in their instructions, explanations, and answers. It was also so fun and I was laughing the whole time! They make it so entertaining. One of the most memorable aspects of my trip. The Chanko soup was good and the bento box was decent. Love the whole experience.
Great time!

This was one of our favorite activities in Tokyo. It was a great opportunity to see a sumo demonstration close up and to learn a lot about sumo. The hostess did a wonderful job clearly conveying all of the information. It was amazing to see how strong and agile the sumo wrestlers were. The audience participation was incredibly fun- both to watch and take part in. Everyone had a great time and the provided lunch was excellent. A wonderful and unique afternoon that we enjoyed very much.
Awesome experience.

This was the highlight of our time in Tokyo. Temples and food were great in the city, but this we got to learn about a part of the culture we couldn't learn about on our own. The retired sumo wrestlers taught us about the rules and what it's like to be a professional wrestler. Then we got to try on the sumo suits and wrestle :) it was so much fun I never stopped laughing!

If you want an insight into the world of Sumo then this is the tour for you. The 2 Sumo were retired professionals and are very willing to share their knowledge and answer any questions that you may have. Outgoing and friendly, they put you at ease, and you can "have a go" at sumo with one of them.
Thoroughly enjoyable and I highly recommend this.
Fantastic experience!

This was my favorite experience of my entire trip! The sumo wrestlers were incredibly entertaining and personable, and I learned a lot about the sport. The way the time was divided was terrific and lunch was delicious. I highly recommend you take a few hours out of your day for this one!!
Brilliant attraction

Despite the late start, the attraction was nothing less than amazing. The two sumo wrestling were the nicest guys someone could ask for in an event like that - they were funny, polite, available for several pictures and answered everyone's question. Well, every staff there were pretty nice but defo the sympathy of the sumo wrestlings was a highlight. Ah! And we could eat and drink a refreshing tea as much as we could. Fantastic!

Fantastic! Highly recommend this lunch. It was so entertaining! The Sumo demonstration was amazing and very realistic! The Sumos were funny and loved the crowd. The food was fantastic and more than enough! Cannot recommend this lunch highly enough! Thank you to the owners and staff of the venue and Beauty of Japan!

The wrestlers were so lovely and made the whole experience very enjoyable. It's nothing serious and for first timers, like me, it's just of the right intensity.
The food wasn't great though. But we didn't go there for the food. So I'm happy. Everybody who left the activity looked very visibly happy too.
Sumuch fun!

Loved this experience. Thought it was going to be cheesy and touristy- well maybe it was, but it was really entertaining and such a fun experience. Lunch was decent and the best part was having the sumo wrestlers actually serve us after all the matches. You can participate if you want to or just sit back and watch. They pose for photos with you and the interrupter will answer any questions you have.
Sumo Lunch and Demonstration

We had a fun time at the Sumo Lunch and Demonstration tour. The staff at the restaurant were welcoming and very helpful. The Sumo wrestlers were funny and posed for pictures with everyone in the audience. If you have children they would really enjoy this and would have an opportunity to wrestle with one of the Sumo wrestlers.
Fantastic fun!

Fun experience

They gave a brief but good background description of sumo, from origin to present. The ex-sumo wrestlers put up an entertaining show that was both educational and fun. They allowed whoever who wanted to, to try their hand at wrestling them while wearing a fun fat suit. They also gave us time to ask questions at the end, although we did run out of time at the end. The only thing that was meh was the food, although since it was my first time eating chanko, I can't tell whether it was supposed to be bland or it just didn't suit my taste.
Sumo Experience - brilliant!

We wanted to see Sumo during our trip to Japan but were not sufficiently into the sport to want to sit through a serious competition. This experience was ideal. We were given a demonstration by two retired sumo wrestlers who showed us training exercises, winning moves, foul moves and then had three serious bouts. There was an exceptionally enthusiastic and well-informed compère who explained everything as we went along. In addition, the venue ran video of competitive matches to give us a feel for the real thing. There was lots of information about the history of sumo and the structure of the sport. Then came the sumo challenge, where members of the audience could put on a ‘fat suit’ and have a light hearted wrestle with the sumo of his/her choice - great fun for kids and adults alike. After the demonstrations we sat down to an ample meal of the sort that a sumo would eat when in training and it was delicious as well as filling. After the meal, one of the sumo came back for a Q&A session, facilitated by our cheerful compère. The whole event was a tremendous success and just the right mix of entertainment and education that we were hoping for. I would strongly recommend this for anyone with even the slightest interest in sumo, looking for a fun introduction to the sport. The organisation and presentation were excellent and of high quality.
Absolutely Fantastic!!

Great lunch and funny Sumos!

This was one of the highlights of our trip and way better than we expected. The sumos were hilarious while they shared their culture with us. They genuinely seemed happy to be there and made sure to keep us laughing. Food was good and they even gave us a second helping of soup if we wanted it. there was plenty of time for photos and questions with the sumo's. They were both former professionals so it was really cool to see them in person.
We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
