Red Sightseeing Stockholm Hop-On Hop-Off Bus

Having the opportunity to see a lot of things in a short period of time. Good information on the headsets too. Very informative.

We, unfortunately, did not do sufficient homework before booking this bus. It said it had dock pickup but did not specify which dock. As a result, our ship dock was not a stop for this bus. We were able, thanks to a sympathetic young lady, to catch a different hop-on hop-off tour that then connected with this red bus in Stockholm. We could have spent many more days in this lovely, sprawling city but only had the one day. Again, the map provided did not contain compass directions and would have helped a great deal in locating bus stops.

A good way to see most of what Stockholm has to offer. We took the one day pass and this was definitely enough. Most of the places you might want to revisit, if you have a second day, can be reached on foot (assuming you have a central hotel). The commentary on route was useful and open top bus pleasant. Very relaxing especially as it was a very hot day.

Well, the first stop was fantastic! We got off in Gamla Stan, which was FANTASIC! We spent about 2 hours walking the streets, eating and sightseeing. We then waited at a stop for almost an hour for a bus to show up. Finally we gave up and walked to another stop around the corner thinking we had a better chance on a main street. We waiting with a group of others for about 45 mins or so. Finally when the bus came it was spilling over with people. No seats and almost no where to stand. I ended up sitting on the stairs with no window until about 4 stops later when people got off at the Vasa Museum. We were told that the streets in the other area were closed due to a festival. My question is...why weren't the customers notified of this? We could have planned differently and not wasted the one day we had in Stockholm waiting for a bus to show up. It's not like the tour company didn't have advance notice of streets being closed for a festival. On top of that it rained and there was no where to sit but up top, which offered little protection as the sides were not on and the rain was coming in sideways. I'm not even basing my review on the weather as I know they can't help that, and we came equip with anything mother nature threw at us. But I am upset that we were not notified that busses could not run properly around most of the route. Communication could have changed the outcome of the day. We finished the tour with no time left to walk to any of the areas we desired to go back to. With the exception of Gamla Stan it was disappointing.

the hop-on-hop-off is what you make of it, I went in march on a cold day but I got to see what i wanted so I can't complain, If it were warmer, I would have probably had a better time

This is the perfect way to see a city! You have control over how much time you spend at any given point. We were delighted with our experience, choosing to spend extra time in Gammle Stan/Old town, and at the Market point, near shopping. We had already visited the VASA museum - and would eagerly recommend that to future tour participants. It is really amazing!

Started off great. Lots of buses. But in the afternoon we waited 45 minutes for a bus and finally walked back to our hotel.

This trip was a big mess. We got on the bus at 8:00 pm and then hopped off at the Vasa museum. We left the museum about 9:30 and went to the bus stop. Unfortunately, the bus did not come by until after 11:00 pm. No bus went by that we could hop on and, we finally one came, it was full of people. Since the driver did not ask for our the tickets, a huge band of Chinese people pushed us and got on. Later, someone realized that those people had bought tickets from another company. For this reason, we almost could not find a seat. I had to sit in the back and could not take pictures. This was a real mess and it was all the fault of the Swedish personnel on the site. This was specially bad because we had to be back on board by 1:30 pm so my group had to stay on the bus. No visits to other places. We could not even visit the old section of the city. Big Mess!!!

This is a good way to get into the centre of Stockholm. We 'hopped on' at the cruise port and 'hopped off' again at City Hall. This enabled us to see a few of the more outlying sights as we drove along. We then walked around city hall and across the bridge to Gamla Stan. We walked for most of the rest of the day but then took the bus from the Royal Palace to Vasa Museum and again from Vasa museum back to the ship. The buses seemed to run at very regular intervals and we had no problem getting on. We were lucky that the weather was wonderful that day and we managed to visit most of the places that we intended. Stockholm is a lovely city with plenty to see and do. We didn't even need to buy and Sewdish currecny as credit/debit cards are taken everywhere. We like to walk as much as possible but the hop-on /hop-off service enabled us to get around more efficiently.

This hop-on, hop-off tour was a disappointment compared to others I've taken in other European cities. The stops were poorly marked, the drivers didn't even point out where the maps and headphones were, the hours of frequent operation ended way too early, and the audio commentary was skimpy and incomplete. The operators of this tour need to do a lot to improve their service.
