This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Incredible Day Trip from Seattle

We had a great time with this tour. Highly recommend it as a full day tour from Seattle. First, pickup was prompt at the designated location from our hotel. After picking up all the other people on the tour, we were on our way. The drive is about an hour and 45 minutes. But, you do stop along the way for provisions and bathroom breaks. Once there, the scenery is spectacular. The views do not disappoint. We were given snowshoes to walk to the best vista. Perfect timing as the clouds cleared around the peak and we got some amazing photos. For those with different ability levels, there are easier options. I can’t speak more highly of our tour guide, Lucas. He had a great mixture of local knowledge and expertise that you would always want in a tour guide. He always recommended the perfect spot or the short walk that would give breathtaking views. Highly, highly recommend Lucas and this tour.

Lucas was an incredible and knowledgeable tour guide. He clearly has a passion for the great outdoors, educating others, and Mt. Rainier. The tour was the best thing I scheduled while in the Seattle area. It is an absolute must, and you will not be disappointed. Next time I'm back on the west coast, they will definitely get my business again.

Don was a wonderful guide! He was very knowledgeable of the route in which we took and was able to answer all questions we asked. Even though there was a lot of overcast, he still pointed out landmarks within Mount Rainier. I would definitely book this tour again on a sunny day!

It is unfortunate when the weather does not cooperate as we would hope. I am glad you were still able to enjoy the experience. We look forward to you touring with us again. Thank you so much for your review!
