West Side Experience Puerto Rico Day Tour

This was a great tour! Had to change the date due to inclement weather, but it was easy to switch. It ended up being a private, solo tour because some people cancelled. Had a great time exploring a lesser visited part of Puerto Rico. Roberto, my driver and guide, was super friendly. He took me to a couple off the path spots since it was just me. Would highly recommend! Great, fulfilling day. Saw a lot of interesting places.

To truly experience the Island’s culture as well as the island’s flavors, this is the best day trip. The comfort is top notch. The guide is superb. All you have to do is seat and enjoy the scenery. Hassle free. Highly recommended.

The tour guide was absolutely amazing! He made sure that we learned history, saw beautiful places, and enjoyed our excursion. We saw caves, beaches, ate corn ice cream(which was delicious), had amazing seafood and a perfect dinner with sunset. We walked around the beach and ate fritters at local trucks as well as had a few drinks in Boqueron. I would do this again 10x if I could.

Where to begin! Hotel pickup was seamless and on-time, and communication with the tour operator was fantastic throughout planning, etc. Expectations were made very clear in the trip details (tip: you absolutely NEED the closed-toed shoes; ample sun protection such as sunscreen AND rash guard; a light snack to carry with you (made available by the operator); and BUG SPRAY for later in the day/evening). We traveled on a Sunday with one of the owners, Roberto (Bobby), and WSD’s wonderful intern, Roberto. From the moment we departed VSJ to the moment we returned, Bobby imparted a lifetime’s worth of personal wisdom about all things relevant to the regions we drove through, and each stop along the way, and Roberto was extremely patient as we lingered behind the group to take in the scenery and capture photos. Upon arrival in Cabo Rojo walked for about 90 minutes along beautiful cliffside trails at Faro Los Morrillos before a brief stop at the neighboring salt mines. Afterward, we hopped on a local highway and made a refreshing pit-stop for roadside piraguas before venturing to Boquerón where we wandered in the mangroves of la Reserva de Boquerón before strolling along Calle Jose de Diego (psst— don’t miss the bacalaitos!). After a light bite and some local flavor, we boarded the van and headed for a relaxed late afternoon meal (and well-deserved drinks!) in Puerta Real at La Bodeguita del Puerto. We closed our tab and chased the sunset to Ostiones Beach where we marveled at the sunset until nightfall— AND even located the elusive coquí (photos coming soon!!). We cannot thank Bobby and Roberto enough for their kind hospitality and patience during this trip. They are the reason we were able to venture across the island and get to know such a special corner of Puerto Rico so intimately. These memories will be with us forever!

From start to finish, hands down the best tour I have taken. Starting from a great itinerary and great service and knowledge of the guide himself. Robert / Bobby was the best at accommodating any concern as well as ensuring the customers get the ultimate Puerto Rico Experience. I will definitely be booking again through Viator or West Side Destinations. There is no doubt in my mind that i will recommend this tour and specifically Robert to any and all my friends.

Roberto was a great guide. Very knowledgable and accommodating, it was a small group so we got the VIP treatment.. Great views and great time.
