We booked the food tour with Isabella. We originally booked the tour for a Saturday morning but we’re then emailed a couple of days before requesting we moved to the afternoon because staff we suffering with covid - however when on the tour Isabella made reference to a tour that morning which made us think they just moved us to even up the numbers which is fine but just be honest about it. The food provided was delicious but there wasn’t a great deal of it (mini cannoli, 1/4 of a sandwich etc) and there were a couple of places where we didn’t actually go in, rather our tour guide went in grabbed us something she had pre-ordered and handed it out which was disappointing. We did stop at a fabulous Italian deli and had arancini, the owner came out and told us all about how he made it which was the clear highlight of the tour, it’s a shame the other stops weren’t able / asked to do the same. The tour actually ran well over the intented time and people had to leave because they had prior plans (us included!) luckily Isabella managed to grab us pizza to go in a box at the last stop. Overall the food was delicious but there wasn’t a great deal of it , I can’t say I learnt a great deal about the food in general but the tour did give some good insights into the city, although I am abit perplexed about how we ended up in a church on a food tour! We enjoyed the food so much we managed to the same tour again ourselves the following day and couldn’t believe how much cheaper it was doing it ourselves and getting full portions. I would say If you are looking for some snacks and a light walking tour of the city definitely book this but if you have a little more of an appetite and would like to know more about the food I would suggest visiting the eateries yourself and talking to the staff - you’ll get more food and save a fortune!

I apologize that the tour did not meet your expectations. While we’re glad that you enjoyed the tour, we want all parts of the tour to be great, especially the food, both in quality and quantity. As our other reviews indicate, most of our guests enjoy delicious food and generous portions at a number of food stops in North Beach\Little Italy. I’ll be reviewing all of the stops on the tour to ensure that the portions are not only delicious, but are also substantial sizes. I apologize that we did not meet your expectations in this area. We had to rearrange our tours on Saturday, as two of our guides tested positive for Covid. The morning was our Chinatown tour, which Isabella led, as well as the afternoon tour that you were on. Could you call me at 415-665-0480, email me at tmedin@sffoodtour, or message me through Viator? I‘d like to find out what food was not outstanding and abundant and ensure that all parts of the tour are great.

Cynthia the tour guide was excellent in her knowledgeable description and anecdotes. The eating part was phenomenal especially accommodated with the hilarious comic Shows by the Sicilian chef who made the polenta. I highly recommend this tour, Cynthia even came back and got me when I got lost! Which I knew she would.

Isabella gave us a lovely, informative tour of North Beach, with enough food to make us wish we had not eaten such a large breakfast. We had cannolis, coffee and Italian soda, samples of a fabulous sub, arrancini, another meatball sub on focaccia, fudge, and pizza. All of the food was really good. If anything, I would suggest a pasta sampling be included, but no complaints, as we were very satisfied with the eats and the tour.

Honestly, I was sick on this tour, but decided to go anyway. The guide was awesome! She considered my food allergies and made special accomodations. She was friendly and quite knowledgable about SF. I truly appreciated her professionalism and personality.

I actually live in San Francisco, and I still learned a TON about my own city, and tasted some GREAT food along the way. Definitely want to revisit some of these stops next time I'm in the neighborhood. Now I'm tempted to go on Lauren's Chinatown tour too!
