Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Meet at Broadway Pier at least 30 minutes before your departure time for this 3-hour whale-watching cruise in San Diego. Your cruise takes off at 9am.

After boarding, pick a spot on the 2-story yacht either on the main level or upper sundeck. It’s recommended to dress in layers, so you won’t get cold out on the water. The yacht is equipped with free Wi-Fi, a snack bar, and multiple restrooms for convenience.

During your time on the water, your guide tells you interesting facts about the whales, their migratory patterns, their ocean habitat, and other species that call the ocean home. Keep your eyes peeled for grey whales. You might just see a quick glance of them popping up from the water, but in many cases, you’ll see them jump up and make a huge splash.

After your cruise is over, make your way off the yacht. The rest of the day is in your hands.

No whales for us!

Took forever to find San Diego Whale Watching only to find out our tickets we ordered online were through a 3rd party and were through Flagship. Called them and there was no way we would make it in time as we were to far away. Asked if we could switch to next day and were informed today was last day for whale watching. My mother and I were so exited to go as we don't have whales in Idaho! Ended up taking a 2 hour harbor cruise that only took an hour.

Good crew, bad choices by Captain
Monica_B
, Apr 2021
The sea was so choppy and wind so cold that it was miserable. Still the captain decided to keep going into the wind because he hoped to show us a whale when no whales were seen in SD area by other boats. I understand he wanted to give us that experience but it meant 3 hours of some of the worst chop I've ever experienced in a boat that size. I needed help getting to the bathroom, and kudos to the crew members who helped me. But at some point a captain should choose to give passengers a more pleasant experience even if no whales are seen.

Had a great time.

We got to see a ton of common dolphins on our trip. They were riding the waves at the front of the boat. And because we didn't see any whales, they gave us a free coupon for another trip so we decided to take the full harbor tour. I thought the announcer did an excellent job on explaining what all the ships in port were and what they were doing. Would definitely take this tour again.

We were a group of 15. We had 10 kids and 5 adults. I have been on boat tours and many other water activities many many times. I have never experienced a boat as rocky as this one. I can understand that seeing whales is not in anyone's control. There were whales spotted far away. While we were on the tour, the Company mentioned that the day before it was even more choppy. It was so rocky and choppy it was such a bad experience. Out of our 10 Kids, 7 were feeling sick with the rocky boat. Most people on the boat were sick and throwing up. We paid to sleep and throw up. I was not sea sick but the majority of our group was. The 3 hours felt like 6. Bad idea with kids. Its too long, too choppy, and not enjoyable.
