Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Travel back in time when sailing on the America, a replica of the sailing ship that won the first America's Cup sailing competition in 1851. Your classic sailing vessel provides a smooth ride and spacious decks, perfect for sailing on the Pacific Ocean in search of gray whales and other marine life. Since your boat principally moves under wind power without using the engine, your captain can get closer to the marine animals without scaring them. The boat's deep keel provides excellent stability and large decks offer unobstructed views, making the America a prime vessel for whale-watching.

Snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic) are offered during the cruise. You are welcome to bring along a picnic lunch or your favorite bottle of wine to enjoy onboard.

Whale sightings are guaranteed on your cruise. If no whales are sighted, you can return for a complimentary whale watching cruise on another day in the same season. The America also provides a 'No Seasickness' guarantee.

Unforgettable trip! This trip has exceeded the best expectations! Our ship turned out to be a real sailing ship! Huge and beautiful! The team worked professionally and smoothly. We were offered a very comfortable seat next to the captain, treated to drinks and snacks. And the most important thing! Yes! We saw whales !! it was a fantastic sight! Many thanks to all crew members! Special thanks and hello to Labrador Marly! :)

During COVID-19 this company put me totally at ease with their cleaning policy and distancing requirements. The boat itself was exceptional and their expertise on finding whales was top notch. A truly enjoyable experience overall with very friendly staff!

The Perfect First-Time Experience

We saw so many whales and dolphins, it was unbelievable! Worth every penny paid. This was the first time that my Child had ever been on a boat, and it was the most perfect first-time experience. All of the staff was beyond kind, patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Even with the pandemic (masks, social distancing, and all that), they still managed to make it a stupendously fun experience for the two of us. We will definitely be going again on another trip to San Diego in the future. Loved it!

Nice people, great service, but no whales

Very friendly people and nice clean atmosphere but almost zero whales (saw the fin/back of one from a distance). But to compensate, they did show us dolphins. Be prepared for the chilly weather. Seating for almost 4 hours can be challenge for some, as seats do not have any back support on this magnificent sailboat.

Boat leaves well before its stated booking time

Got there 5 minutes prior of my boarding time at the only prier close by the address given to us and there was no signs or any indication of the boat ride for whale watching and there was no boat as well on site. I called the tour and all they could tell me is that they leave at the stated time and would not wait for me. I was there on the pier 5 minutes prior and there was no boat.. They refused to refund me my money 570.00 dollars and said they leave on time for its customers happiness. So other customers are more important than others I guess. These people don't have any empathy for other people and would discriminate other customers. I was in town only for a few days and could go on another day. However they flat out lied to me about leaving on time, and dont have up any signs telling customers where the boat ride is located all they give you is an address. Personally from my experience I know I was cutting it short 5 minutes prior however not waiting for customers prior stated time is no way for a business to work and then discriminate customers that still on time. I will never recommend a shady business that don't have the common sense to wait at least 10- 15 minutes for customers struggling with time. That says alot they just don't care about all there customers only the ones that can make their lives easier.

Simply put, this customer was late and missed the boat which departed right on time. I was the captain that day. We have tremendous respect for our customer's time and we have learned that our customers appreciate our promptness. On that day, we departed right on time to the minute. But this review also provides an opportunity to share the tremendous efforts we make to help our customers on the day of their sailing. This customer was called several times before check-in closed to offer assistance. He did not answer. We also texted him before check-in. He did not respond. I also called and texted him at the moment check-in closed to see if he was in the area. He did not respond. He then called 11 minutes after check-in had closed to said that he had arrived in the parking lot. Then, at departure time, with the customer still in the parking lot, he asked me to hold the boat for 15 minutes. With all of our other customers boarded, ready and excited to go, I made the decision (as I always do) to depart exactly on time. Lastly, I note that the customer mentions in his review that he did not see a boat at the only pier he could see so he incorrectly assumes we left early. We operate from a marina and our check-in is conveniently located in the parking lot. I wanted to point this out so customers reading this do not look for a pier.
