The English audio guide was lame compared to The information in the museum. Get a real guide who will give you real information. also go in the morning after seeing several churches in the days before. The Sistine chapel it’s a lot to take in the afternoon when everyone’s grouchy and the guards have to yell at people to shut up. Kids figuring out the echo is cute, but the adults being jerks and taking photos when they’re not supposed to is annoying

The most memorable thing was Viator’s lie that there would be a guided tour of Saint Peter’s Basilica. That was the reason I booked the reservation. Equally memorable was the fact that the directions are unclear. There are 3 places where the meeting place is discussed. Only one lists an address. Good luck if you don’t see it.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am writing to you just to clarify a couple of points. We do not read in your review that we have made sure to give you the opportunity to take a tour of 6 people in total instead of 20. Regarding the meeting point, only one address is evident on your booking voucher, and at 12am we received a message from you telling us that you could not find the meeting point. Although the start of the tour is at 2.15 pm. Obviously we answered immediately giving you all the information you asked us and at 2 pm you were right in front of the meeting point. regarding the missed visit to the basilica, at the time of pronation it is clearly written that the basilica can be closed due to force majeure, and this is not decided by us but the Vatican museums. We greet you and thank you for choosing us.

Great tour guide, misleading tour description

Our tour guide Jeanette was phenomenal… she was great with giving us the details on the art and the history of the various pieces without being longwinded or boring. We enjoyed her sense of humor, knowledge, and relatability to US visitors. All that said, because of COVID, direct access from the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica was stopped (obviously this is the Vatican’s decision, not the tour operator’s). This was not advertised at all and in order to get into the Basilica, we had to exit the facility, take a long walk, and then go back through security and could not skip the line. Because of time constraints, we had to move on because of how long the Basilica’s line was and could not experience that from the inside. The tour description should be updated so long as this closure exists and it soured the overall experience despite how great the tour was up until that point.

There is so much to see on this tour that there is no way to see it all. It is a fast paced tour but our guide, Felix, was awesome! He showed us the highlights, which was still a little overwhelming. I know we would've missed a lot had we tried to do a self guided tour so I highly recommend this tour. If you want to spend extra time anywhere you need to avoid the guided tour.

Our guide was friendly and shared lots of interesting info with us during the tour. She told us ahead of time about the etiquette required at the Sistine Chapel -- no photos and no talking. So it was annoying with so many people crowded in there who were talking loudly while taking pictures despite the guards attempts to silence them. If you plan to visit this amazing place, please show some respect.
