DO Not book THIS EXCURSION! DOES NOT SHARE ALL INFORMATION IN DESCRIPTION. Very Racist. Worst park of my trip. We got in and off 10 boats roundtrip no lie. Change of PRICES FOR DIFFERENT RACES. NOT a open bar. Everything about it is a scam. They are MONEY HUNGRY AND do not care about your experience .
My experience

What was supposed to take 8 to 9 hours , took more than 12 hours. The speed boat broke and it took for ever to get back with only one motor. If we are doing this trips everyday, why aren’t the boats properly maintain. I understand accidents happen but we should have a back up plan when something goes wrong, and not leave Clients out stranded . We left my hotel at 6:40am and didn’t get back till after 7:30pm. The time in the island was great, and the people are really friendly.
A good, all be in VERY long day.

Although this was an awesome day, it wasn't what we expected.
First of all, it's a VERY long day. When we booked it, it was advertised as a 7 hour trip.
The reality is, it's actually a 12 hour day that resulted in us missing another event we had planned that evening.
After being picked up in a mini bus, we got dropped off at the side of the road to get on a much larger coach.
The first stop was at a gift shop with some very pushy sales people that try to charge hundreds of $ for tat.
If you try to negotiate, they start to get aggressive and pushy and if you walk off, they chase you down to try and get a sale.
I recommend not getting off the coach, or just heading into the cafe for a coffee of soft drink,
Then it's off to the port. The coach travel takes around 3 hours from hotel to port.
This is where the real trip started. We boarded a large speed boat and set off for the blue lagoon. We spent around 30 minute here having photos taken and drinking from the floating bar.
Then we finished the journey to the island. In total, the boat ride was another 2 hours.
Saona Island is stunning, with BBQ and bars scattered around, but miles of white sand beach to relax on.
The disappointing part was that we only had 2 hours on the island, so by the time you've had food and a drink, you have around an hour to relax before you leave again.
The boat ride back is a party boat, again taking around 2 hours, with drinks served on board and the crew get you up and dancing, or you can chill on the side of the boat.
Once you're back on land, it's another 3 hours on a coach back to your hotels, this time doing a lot more hotel stops because you're all on the larger coach.
All in all, we really enjoyed the day, but wouldn't do it again.
You need to clear a full day and be ready to travel a lot longer than you actually spend on the island.

Loud, party style tour

The island is beautiful and the lunch/drinks at the island were good and plentiful. Unfortunately this trip was mired by constant shouting from the guide and loud music in the coach, on the boats and on the island. It’s not peaceful and not suitable for families or children or people wanting to relax.

Saona is simply beautiful, definitely a must see place when in Dom Rep - highly recommend it.
When it comes to travel we were not annoyed by the pick up of other people from different hotels, it didn’t last too long so was fine.
The thing that is very annoying is when you go down to Bayahibe to catch your boat to Saona they stop at a little gift shop and nothing has a price tag there! Sellers are assuring you for a good price but when you get to pay they give you a mad number like $100 for 2-3 small bits like souvenirs. So get ready for a serious bid or don’t buy at all because these guys are ripping you off! Other very annoying thing is that you are asked for a tip everywhere you go - buses, boats, bars and again this means that you’ll need some $1s in hand just to make locals happy.
Other thing is the mosquitos at the island, they bite a lot so bring a spray with you to be safe.
Of course there are lots of beach sellers that try to sell you stuff and it is annoying again as you can’t enjoy your chill time on your lounge chair.
The food at the island was ok, enjoyed the rice and pina colada made in a pineapple - was delish!

Saona island is beautiful. The boat ride to the island was great. However, I found it hard to enjoy and relax when you have vendors constantly interrupting your relaxation time to either sale you something or ask if you want a massage. I got asked over 7 times if I wanted a massage. The worst part was the fact that I drifted to a light sleep only to be awaken by someone tapping me on the head to ask if I wanted a massage. Can you just imagine how annoyed I was at the time? The vendors selling jewelry, natural oils and coconuts don’t understand the words no thank you. They prefer to ignore you and insist you by there products. I do understand that this is how they make their money to live. But for lord sakes these actions make tourists not want to return to the Dominican Republic. I for one don’t want to return. Because this happens every where. That kills the desire to leave my hotel to venture out. It’s frustrating.
We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.

Sorting, ranking, and search results
Viator wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That’s why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.
On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You’ll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.
You’ll see some experiences with a “Promoted” badge, which means that the operators of those experiences have agreed to pay Viator more to have their experience highlighted.
If you see an Experience Award Winner label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Viator over a 12-month period.
