The sites were amazing. The cave was my best experience even with the stairs (felt like a million) but beautiful view and history, the authentic food was delicious. The tour guide was amazing. I did not care for all the walking I wasn't prepared for it clothing wise(shoes) There was nothing that said we would be walking the town for over an hour.

The main reason I pick this tour would see the cave. To my disappointment, we did not go to the cave.

The tour had two different guides, the first was rude and disrespectful with the people. They didn't take us to the places that were advertised like the Three Eyes Park and La Atarrazana Restaurant, please revise your provider. We never had an experience like this any of your tours.

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!

If I could give them no starts I would. What a waste of an entire day. First they were late to pick us up. Then, although you are not told this, you are walking for over 2 hours in the blazing sun to see nothing but 2 churches and 3 stores that all sell the same things. The rest of the places on the list they point out to you from a distance. the only nice stop was the Malacon and that's because you stop there for 10 minutes and you see the beach, you take a picture and you jump right back on the bus. At the end of the day which s about 4:30 you start your trip back. After making stops for bathroom and for a short break, we made it back to the hotel at 8:15 that night.

A Long Day

The tour was certainly interesting but it was a long day (>13 hours), the majority of the time spent in a very uncomfortable, ramshackled bus which the passengers had to push start on one occasion. Lunch was very good. The tour would have been enhanced by further explanation and planning by the guide in terms of time at each stop. Probably good value for money

We took this trip from Punta Cana . Driver picked us up on time and took us to the petrol station where we had to get on the coach to join rest of the group. Nearly two hours later we stopped at some souvenir shop where we were told this place has the cheapest prices we will see all day. 30 minutes later we finally arrived to Santo Domingo National Park which was nice and Afterwards we driven to Columbus Monument ( lighthouse) stopped there for 30 minutes and then went to see the Presidential palace where we were not allow to stop and was told off by army to get out of there . In full honesty...it was just too rushed. Too ambitious to see so many things. We had no free time to look around Santo Domingo. We wasted nearly one hour front of Suvenir Shop where the tour guide took his commission for bringing us there. Forget about soaking up some Santo Domingo atmosphere at Colonial plaza and enjoying local music. We only had brisk walk through it to get to a restaurant where we were served lunch with drinks, which was ok. Afterwards we were shown first hospital and museum ..of course only from distance, as we had to return back to the bus. Over all tour took 11 hours. We spent nearly hours on the bus. Its a shame things are no very well organised and everyone is just after your money and expecting tip for bad service.

Excellent day tour to Santo Domingo

The tour was fantastic! It is a longer day trip with a decent amount of walking, so prepare yourself for that. Other than that the locations visited on this tour provide you an opportunity to see the capital of the country. The tour includes entry to all site which was nice, not having to wait in lines to buy tickets. David was our guide and he was awesome and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour if you like to travel and want to immerse yourself in the Dominican culture and learn more about the history of the country and see some beautiful sites. Also the lunch was delicious too!

Good overall experience, would of liked it to include the exploring across the water and deeper into the cave that I saw other tours doing.

By me being a solo traveler as a female. I was really scared if this would be safe or not. I went and felt so safe. The tour guide made sure I didn’t get lost and informed. He was Amazing. So glad I went, as the caves were Remarkable!

Santo Domingo City Tour - April 2022

We loved the group of people on our trip. Our tour guide David was excellent. We were thirsty and he jumped off the shuttle to purchase bottled water for everyone. The long ride might have been better if cold water was available when we got on the shuttle. Upgrade the vehicle to a mini-tour bus which for a drive from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo to avoid a packed shuttle for 2 hour 48 mins. The landmarks, museum visits, buffet lunch, and the service were otherwise excellent. The driver was on a mission to get us all back to our resorts before sundown which was tremendously appreciated. We were able to freshen up in time for dinner. All in all, it was worth the money to visit such a monumentally historical city. Happy travels, Everyone!

The Tourist Adventure to Avoid
Jonathan_W

The tour bus was really bad. The seats must have been made for smaller, indigenous people. I am a thin person, yet I often could only get half my body onto the seat. This 10-12 hour full day was actually 12-14 hours and was exhausting for not much. It was a wasted day. A couple of the items on the tour list were good, but most were average or poor. Our first stop was a shop on the side of the road that also served as a bathroom break. The bathrooms were dirty. There was no light and no way to dry the hands. The last half hour of our "tour" we were just hanging out and waiting for the bus to take us back. Also, on the way to our tour, the driver picked up and dropped off workers to other sites. I am glad they got a ride, but it made our day much longer. Once, the driver went out of his way about a half hour to pick up some workers and take them to another place. Our lunch was mediocre. The experience was so bad that we cancelled our other Viator excursion.

Great excursion, so much history . We stayed in Punta Caña and bus took us to Santo Domingo for this one day trip. It is about 12 hours all together . The tour guide David was very knowledgeable and spoke several languages. Buffet lunch was great as well in the old city . There is about 3 hour walk to visit cathedrals and other historical places in downtown Santo Domingo . Well worth it the price we paid using the Trip Advisor website . They accept PayPal and everything is done quickly and smoothly. The Viator tour rep is very responsive and will address any issue in case you have it. Everything was great except the transfer from the main bus to our condo complex on the way back. The driver dis not do logical thing and take us to our place when we were 2 minutes away so we had to go for another 40 minutes until all other guests were dropped off at their respective hotels . I did not deduct anything from the rating for this since everyone else worked very hard to provide us with awesome experience and it would not be fair to them . This was definitely just a logistical challenge and lack of good planing than anything else . Over all highly recomen the tour .

Great experience! Had great bus with driver and tour guide. The restaurant they choose had vegetarian choice in the buffet. We enjoyed our trip!

Great trip, little disorganized

Great trip in terms of seeing a lot of important locations in Santo Domingo. The tres ojos national park was really cool, especially the caves and pools (just wish we could swim in them!). The monument to Christopher Columbus was also very interesting to see the history of all of the countries that have influenced the DR. Food was great, Victor was a good guide who spoke 3 languages. Only have 3 complaints about this tour: 1. The transportation is very disorganized and confusing. You get picked up by a shuttle that then drops you off at a gas station with tons of other people and then get herded onto buses from there based on where you're going. The way back was more hectic as they tried to figure out where everyone was going. Made the 2hr 45min trip take even longer. 2. The trip should be broken up into groups based on language spoken (which they'd have the opportunity to do at that gas station since groups are being split up anyway). We would often have to wait for Victor to speak in Spanish then German before getting to English. 3. We got taken into 2 different gift shops, which I typically don't mind as I know they have to make money and they're really not that pushy if you just say no thank you. However, we spent longer in the second gift shop than we did at most points of interest, so people were getting restless and frustrated. All in all, a good trip that just needs to be ironed out better in terms of organization.
