This activity will end right where it started.
Meet your guide for either your morning or afternoon Versailles tour in central Paris. Climb into the comfortable air-conditioned coach for the drive to Versailles.

The Palace of Versailles was originally built as a relatively modest hunting retreat for Louis XIII in 1623, but his successor—Louis XIV—expanded it and turned it into the symbol of luxury and extravagance that we know today. The palace we see today was completed in 1710, and remains one of the most famous palaces in Europe.

When you arrive, walk past the queues with your guide thanks to your skip-the-line access. Follow along as your guide walks you through the Royal Apartments where the King and Queen of France, Louis XIV, and Marie Antoinette once spent the majority of their time.

Visit the apartments of the Dauphin and Dauphine—the heirs apparent to the throne. See the various drawing rooms, private studies, and bed chambers where the royal family once lived, and imagine what life might have been like for them in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Continue to one of the most photographed parts of Versailles, the Hall of Mirrors, built in 1678. Look around as your guide explains its most important features. The Hall of Mirrors leads from the Royal Apartments to the Salon de la Guerre and the Salon de la Paix.

At the conclusion of your palace tour, enjoy some free time to explore the gardens at your leisure. Walk through the perfect gardens, studded with statues and sculptures, and admire the incredible fountains. On Saturday nights in the summer, those fountain displays are set to music that dates from the time of Louis XIV’s court for a memorable visual and auditory experience.

After your free time in the Versailles garden, rejoin your guide at the appointed location to climb back into the coach for the return drive to Paris.

Please note: Visits on the first Sunday of every month will be unguided, and you will be provided with an audio guide.

Please don’t waste time waiting for people

Opulence of royalty. There is no need to say any more than do see this. I understand why many people can’t imagine a first week in Paris without this visit. The question is which tour package. We chose this tour because it was not yet booked out, having decided to cancel one that would have cost >1000€ for 3 people and WTHOUT transport. You could spend days here. For us, at this point in our trip and during tourist high season, the half day was about right. We were glad to have picked the morning start. Be content to move through the rooms (you are seeing the public areas only) at a brisk pace. The guide was approachable and professional. Really important- 1. Book early, the tour we really wanted was booked out with options disappearing online, right in front of my eyes. This was 10 days out. 2. Ensure transport to and from Versailles is included. If it’s not hotel pickup/drop off, ensure Ticket includes transport to/from a central place. Not fans of coaches, we went with the coach option anyway after being quoted 500€ for a round trip for the 3 of us. 3. If Summer, start early in the morning. You’ll be glad you did when you go out to find your exit coach and see the hordes of the afternoon groups arrive into the heat.

Never use viator again

Tour was changed by Viator from guided to audio. The refund wasn’t appropriate. We could’ve been placed with another guide. Total inconvenience that ruined our experience.

Quick accurate tour

The tour was a bit rushed. Fabio our guide was good but we had some late comers that delayed some of the tour. PLEASE RESPECT others and be early rather than late I personally would’ve liked more garden time so if you just want to see Versailles this is great but if you are wanting to explore you’ll need a different or self tour

Guided Tour is very short

Great to see the palace of French Kings. This guided tour was very very short. We probably spent an hour with our guide. I think for the money paid, we should have seen more of the palace.

Regrets & Technical Difficulties

I regret booking the half-day tour. The tour guide was late & then couldn't figure out how to operate the earpiece which wasted about 1/3 of the time we had at the palace. Once he got going he was a great tour guide but everything felt very rushed. The half-day tour also doesn't give you much time to explore the gardens which are beautiful and extensive. You also won't have time to visit Marie Antoinette's hamlet if you select the half-day tour.

The Versailles gardens were beautiful and the guide was very informative. The time was spent wisely, felt like we saw and learned a lot in the 5 hours we spent T with our tour guide.

Tour was rushed and didn't have time to walk through the gardens. Not a good value - Go it alone - Don't hire Viator

Our tour guide was terrible. He totally rushed through the tour and we literally spent like 2 minutes in the hall of mirrors. He acted annoyed when my whisper head set didn't work. The whole tour was rushed as we didn't even have time to walk through the gardens. Im not impressed with Viator at all. I do NOT recommend this tour nor do I recommend VIATOR.

Just okay tour

Content of the tour was very interesting and for that reason I’d recommend the tour. The negatives: the tour guide’s accent was a little heavy so at times it was difficult to understand her (and generally I do fine with accents); our group was quite large, probably 20 people so it’s definitely not a small group if that is what you’re expecting; there was long set up time to get the tour going - passing out headsets and instructing how they are used - seems like that could have been done on the bus ride over to save time. We also expected much more narration during the 30+ minute ride to and from Versailles (there was virtually none) - for the price for these tickets I would expect more content from the tour guides. It was super crowded in Versailles so we couldn’t spend that much time in each room, and the narration from the tour guide only last about 57 minutes, so just keep that in mind when booking. I think generally we would have liked more content, and less wasted time on the part of the tour company. I don’t know if there are many better options for tours out there, the transportation part was seamless and comfortable, and the actual content we got was very interesting, so I think I’d recommend the tour to others, but it wasn’t a top notch tour (especially for the price).

This was a great tour. It was easy to find the meeting place and the Pullman hotel had a pastry & coffee special you could get before leaving. My guide was amazing, she was so knowledgeable and had such great passion.

The Versailles palace and gardens are breathtaking. We did not get to see the fountains show. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kind. We went on this tour May 8, 2022. It was a somewhat cool day and didn't get to spend much time in the gardens.
