Overview

This fun culinary and cultural tour of Paris follows the advice of some of the world’s greatest travel experts: writers of the New York Times’ “36 Hours” travel column. Although this tour is not 36 hours long, it is a very condensed version of the NYT’s recommendations of where to eat and what to see. You’ll enjoy some of the French’s capital’s best hand-picked experiences, from a chocolate shop to a perfumier, and much more.

  • By joining this tour you are supporting various family-owned businesses. You will sample a pastry and a hot chocolate in a shop owned by Pierre Cluizel, an important figure in the 4th generation of pastry chefs and chocolate makers in the Cluizel family. Opened in 1947, their chocolate only uses cacao from producers that pay special attention to preserving the natural ecosystem of the cacao trees.
  • As part of your tour you will also try bread from Poilâne, an 80-year-old bakery that has been in the same family for three generations.
  • Lastly, the surprise gift you receive at the end of your tour comes from a very old candle maker, also owned by a family who needed to find creative ways of adapting to modernity in order for the business to survive.
