Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your tour starts at a central location in Paris, where you receive your audio guide for your visit to Monet's House and Gardens. Then board the bus for the drive from the city to Giverny.

When you arrive, you have independent time to explore Monet's studio, home, and vibrant gardens. Monet lived here with his family for more than 40 years, working on some of his Impressionist masterpieces. Inside, you can see his kitchen, sitting room, reading room, dining room, and bedroom, plus admire his collection of Japanese prints, which provided him inspiration.

Outside, stroll around rows and rows of flowers—from roses to nasturtium to blooms from East Asia—and visit the water lily pond and Japanese bridge, surrounded by weeping willows. This is a scene you probably recognize from some of his paintings. Throughout your self-guided tour, listen to the audio guide for commentary about Monet's work and life.

When your time is up, return to the starting point in Paris, where your tour ends.

Beautful place even in the fall

The trip from Paris was a long ride in a coach bus, but was narrated in English and French for part of the time by a our tour guide. Then we were allowed to sleep a bit and then given very specific instructions and time to meet the bus at the end. It was very very crowded, but people were respectful and moved along. Even being in the fall the flowers and lily pads were beautiful.

We booked this (with ParisVision as it happens) as we wanted a no fuss, easily accessible return trip from Paris to Monet’s Gardens. This was exactly what was delivered. We opted for the “no audio commentary/ garden only” choice and the 2 hours at Giverny was well spent in the beautiful garden. We caught the Metro to and from ParisVision - the pick up point in Paris and it was very convenient. ( Hint look for Starbucks or similar in Paris near pick up point for low cost options for coffee/ snacks beforehand)

Monet's house is a place one must to see. Even the garden was not in a full bloom in October, the variety of plants and hard work as well as Monet's vision about it is impressive. Tour guides were fine, although did not spend too much time with tourists on a site (I thought we paid for a guided tour?). The bus driver Niko (Nick) was Excellent!

Worth the trip!

I've always wanted to visit Monet's home in Giverney and I finally was able to do so in September. The gardens were still in bloom - beautiful flowers in a beautiful setting. I am in a Rose Club back home and it was special to see so many roses in the garden. I wish I was able to identify the rose names but "fragrant", and "beautiful" were good enough for me on my visit. Loved that abundance of perennials placed together -- I took a lot of pictures for my gardening reference. I can only imagine how colorful and magical it must be in peak season! The Water Garden blew me away - even though not many plants were in bloom. It was still lush and serene. It was so amazing to walk through and see how this magical place inspired Monet. Definitely saw the garden through his eyes in all his paintings. I saw how the scenery changes at different hours and how the weather changes the colors for you. Beginning to understand how painters are so adept at pulling you into their world and letting you see what they are seeing. The house was very quaint and it was delightful to see so many of Monet's non-famous paintings throughout the house. I was surprised by the amount of Japanese art that he collected but it was interesting to know this other side of him. Originally planned to take the train to Giverney on our own but opted to go for the bus trip with entrance ticket/ 2 hour duration. It was worth it - bus ride was pleasant and the guide led you to the House and gave you instructions on when to go back to the bus. They really are punctual. It was still busy when we were there but when will it not be busy. There must have been about a dozen tour buses while we were there. Be patient and mindful with all the other travelers - they are all there for the same reason you are. The only regret was not taking the longer 5 hour tour -- we had 2 hours to go through the house and gardens and be back to the bus. I will be booking the longer trip next time -- it includes lunch in the village and a snack. I would have loved to have wandered around the village.

Poor

Very poor. Took 1hour 45 to get there. 1 hour 15 round and then back. Tour guide 15 min walk to the house not dropped off near it. did not wait for elderly so they were left. No time to look around as queues massive for the house and very slow .round garden. Rip off really. Bus driver very good. Tour headphones information poor. Toilet on board. Need a day to do this not half a one, Need to be extreemly mobile as not dropped offanywhere near the house. This is not mentioned in literature.

The overall organisation of the trip by Viator was good but we spent 3 1/2 hours on the bus and barely an hour at Monets home The group entry to the place involved another long delay and when inside it was so overcrowded it was difficult to move around the garden as the pathways are very narrow The line to get into the house was so long it would have taken all our available time waiting so we missed out seeing it. The little village of Giverney looked very cute and quaint but again no time to explore Monets home and garden are very picturesque and worth a visit We ould advise either doing the whole day trip which is apparently available or finding your own way there The operators of Monets home need to introduce timed access and this may be outside Viators control
