We walked by some beautiful estates and heard interesting stories of their history. We were disappointed that the cemetery was closed and we could only look through the gate, but all in all, we enjoyed the tour.

Guide a no show

My husband and I were really looking forward to this garden district tour. We waited 1/2 hour at the designated meeting point and the guide never showed up. Called the number listed as contact but no live person, could only leave a message. We ended up walking through the neighborhood by ourselves. We did get to visit the cemetery, see a few nice houses, and wander along Magazine street. Everything was a lot more close together than I thought. Unfortunately the Commanders Palace wasn't open, the cemetery was open to walk through-could only view from outside, and many of the shops and restaurants on Magazine Street were likely closed due to Covid. Some of the houses have plaques on their gates so you can read some of the historical information. It was disappointing to not have the guide to give us the stories/other information we were looking forward to learning on our tour. We weren't prepared to self-guide ourselves and didn't do much research ahead of time. I received an email from the company about two hours after the tour start that said my booking got marked as spam and they didn't know about the booking (although after I booked I got a confirmation from the company). The next day I got a phone call from a nice representative that apologized and offered to reschedule. He said there was a scheduling error as to no guide showing. I see no need to take this company through the ringer since they tried to remedy the situation and seemed to be an honest mistake.. We didn't reschedule because we had already seen most of the things in that area and due to lack of time. My general advice for anyone taking a tour in any area is to do a little research and make a back up plan if a guide no shows. Luckily the garden district was a safe neighborhood to self navigate but some neighborhoods are not as safe. Have a plan to return of self-guide.

Outstanding Tour!

Tara was absolutely fantastic. Very informative and knowledgeable about the area. The only issue is that the part for the Cemetery Tour was closed (by the City) so we had to “tour” from outside the gates. But, Tara made the absolute best of that situation. Overall, outstanding and would highly recommend.

Terrific Tara Tour!

We were happy to have Tara as our guide, and since the tourist numbers were low due to Covid 19 we were the only 2 people to tour with Tara today! She told us many fascinating details of many beautiful homes. We were worried it would be too hot, but a rain showered us to cool things off. Tara even offered to postpone/continue our tour another day due to the rain, but we were fine with our ponchos/umbrellas. Although we didn't go inside the homes, Tara was kind enough to send us links of several of the homes for us to virtually tour later. The info about the cemetery was also quite interesting. We would definitely recommend this tour!

Our guide, Randy, was terrific! The amount of information he gave us was unbelievable and all so interesting. My only complaint is directed at whomever I spoke to on the phone. She told us we would see the outside of the cemetery that Maria Laveau was laid to rest. I was disappointed about the misinformation but Randy made up for this with his funny tour.

We really enjoyed this walking tour. It took about 2 hours 15 minutes or so with a rest stop and we saw quite a few impressive homes in the area. Tara was our guide, and she did a great job pointing out the interesting history behind a number of properties, including the homes of a few celebrities. The cemetery was fascinating, and we learned a lot about burial customs and even the origin of a number of popular sayings. Overall time well spent, we'd definitely recommend.

Our guide, Randy, was fantastic! He provided a wonderful overview of the history of the city and the relevance of the Garden District. Some in our group would not describe themselves as 'history buffs' and were expecting more about gardens They LOVED the tour and talked about it throughout the weekend. It is an EXCELLENT value and really enjoyable 2 hours. I am grateful we had Randy as our guide ... he is very knowledgeable, open to any questions and very charming.... he is an outstanding host for that beautiful city!

Our tour guide Randy made this a great tour. He had plenty of stories of current and previous owners, New Orleans and the history of the area. The houses are also gorgeous. The cemetery part was less interesting though Randy did do a great job with his stories. Marie Laveau's tomb is not here, nor Nicholas Cage's. Easy walk.
