Beat the crush of crowds on this morning tour of Chapultepec Castle and experience one of Mexico City’s most visited sites in relative solitude. Your Viator Exclusive tour begins at Chapultepec Park as you take a train ride with your guide up a hill and reach the 18th-century Chapultepec Castle (Castillo de Chapultepec) as one of its first visitors of the day.

Chapultepec started as a retreat for Aztec rulers before it was partially torn down and rebuilt into the palace of Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg. It then turned into the residence for Mexico’s presidents before most of the castle was converted into the National History Museum.

Follow your guide along marble staircases, peer into royal apartments, and admire the state carriages of Emperor Maximilian and Benito Juárez. Pass murals of battles painted by famous artists, including José Clemente Orozco and John O'Gorman, as well as the sword wielded by independence fighter José María Morelos.

As you explore the 12 halls, learn about the country’s history, from the pre-Columbian period through Spanish colonialism, to Mexico’s revolution and its independence.

Then, enjoy a lunch break at a nearby location offering traditional dishes like chapatas and chilaquiles, sandwiches, salads, along with tea and coffee (own expense).
Next, head to Mexico City’s most visited museum, the National Museum of Anthropology, also part of Chapultepec Park. Follow your guide on a tour of some of the most impressive pre-Columbian and Mexican artifacts, including Olmec carved heads and the Aztec Stone of the Sun.

Your tour ends in the afternoon so you have the rest of your day to enjoy at your leisure.

Viator Exclusives combine unique experiences and great deals—from traditional tours to once-in-a-lifetime experiences—and are not available from other 3rd-party online sellers.

The guide was very knowledgeable. I would have preferred a little less time in the castle and more time with the guide in the Anthropology museum

Met the professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable tour guide at Estela de Luz Bosque de Chapultepec, tour was conducted in English and Spanish, spent reasonable time in the castle, visited the entire castle while being informed of the history, tour guide answered the questions properly. Visiting National Museum of Anthropology, after a lunch break, covered the afternoon session.Tour guide shared her rich knowledge of the museum and history with us. This tour was the highlight of our trip to Mexico City, and stands high in other tours we took in this trip.

Great Tour with Lots of History

We visited during a very busy time and the lines to enter the Castle were very long, therefore we decided to book this tour to get early access. I highly recommend this tour! It is the best way to see the castle prior to the crowds and you get all the knowledge of the tour guide. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and spent time explaining to us not only the site but the history of Mexico. It was excellent! The tour guide was very entertaining, fun, charismatic, clear and polite. Her English was great and her volume was perfect as we could always hear her commentary. Highly recommend this tour!

You don't need a tour guide for early access to Castle Chapultepec --just show up when it opens and buy tickets. We lost our guide, as did 10 others in our group and spent our time searching for the tour instead of taking in the castle. Our "guide" was not very engaging and not at all clear about when and where we were going. Definitely--not as it seems.

Good afternoon Dear Nancy We are sorry you didn't have the best experience with us. Attending your comments. Our guides are very professional and in all the Tours they provide instructions and "free time" that must be respected due the service is shared with other clients. For this reason, the itinerary and the meeting point are specified by the guide before the activity. Best regards. Friend group.

Great tour

We wanted to see the castle and booked this tour to get the early look. The guide had been told that day that a political event there might disrupt our tour, but she committed to at least seeing what we could get admission to. I believe that she was courteous and upbeat in her explanations as we were stopped multiple times by military personnel en route, and each was willing to let us proceed. Due to her communication and perseverance we got to see not only the castle, but even overlook a bit of the event including the the Mexican president and his wife, military, and military academy. A bonus. Very knowledgeable guide and excellent tour. Highly recommend.

The attractions were both amazing. The only problem was that our guide's english was not great even though we had booked an english tour. I think it would have been more interesting had he been able to explain things a bit better.

An exercise in frustration

After a wonderful week in CDMX we tried for a tour of Chapultepec castle with a guide. Unfortunately the meeting point address mystified our taxi driver and we were dropped at the wrong place.Amigo tours was not at all amistoso. We had to tour on our own. Lots of calls transpired in the middle. Suffice to say the Castle is amazing and full of wonderful things I would have loved to learn about. We never got to the museum. Do this, but don't do it with Amigo tours. (Presuming they show up)

My Amazing Tour Guide! :-)

, Oct 2019
Thursday,October 3rd, 2019 I booked a tour for the Chapultepec Castle, and for the National Museum of Anthropology! ....  To  my surprise I was the only one scheduled for the day so I ended up with a personal tour guide for the day! ... Kara-Jane Schupfer is a walking History book, she is a wealth of knowledge of the history, and facts! Kara has a way of keeping you engaged because she tells it in a way that it seems like an adventure, love story, and documentary all in one! I must admit, that I learned so much about Mexico, the people, their History, and personal facts and stories that brought the Historical characters to life! ... I had an Amazing and wonderful day!  I will most definitely come back to visit Mexico, because there is so much more that I want to see and learn now! :-) Carolyne Christine :-)
