The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Teotihuacan, known as the City of the Gods, is believed to have been established around 100 BC. Take full advantage of this private tour with your own archeologist guide to learn all there is know about this ancient site. After hotel pickup in Mexico City by air-conditioned minivan, travel with your guide about an hour northeast of the city to Teotihuacan.

Inside the archeological zone, explore the palaces, plazas, and pyramids, while learning fascinating history about the architecture and its cultural foundations from your guide. Visit the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalotl. See the complex’s less-visited monuments, including elaborate murals and other architectural nuances. Hear about the most recent archeological findings, the lifestyles of the residents of this once-thriving city and theories behind the city’s decline.

Stroll along the Avenue of the Dead (Calle de Los Muertos), a 1.5-mile (2.4-km) road that connects the main structures, including the Pyramid of the Moon and Pyramid of the Sun. You have the chance to climb these magnificent edifices for stunning bird’s-eye views of Teotihuacan.

After touring the archeological site, board your minivan and en route back to Mexico City, stop by an obsidian workshop. Meet a local family and sample tequila, mezcal and liqueurs made from native cactus plants. Purchase lunch here, if you like, before your day trip ends with drop-off at your Mexico City hotel.

Solo traveler in CDMX

I’m a solo traveler who like to roam on holiday at the beat of my own drum. I booked this tour based upon previous reviews. My tour guide was Ligia, she arrived on time, and remained courteous, polite, informative, and fun through the entire tour. Because this was a private tour Ligia allowed me to customize it to my liking. I will recommend her to all my friends and family members traveling through Mexico City. If you would like a patient, knowledgeable guide who allows customized itineraries I highly recommend her to you.

No crowds

Went early to avoid any crowds that may form. Site was closed for obvious reasons, but we were able to get some good explanations and stopped in several areas throughout the day. With being there early we got to watch the sun rise over the pyramids and see the balloons going about - probablythe best part. The guide did the best she could with the circumstances. Worth the extra money to not have to deal with the street vendors.

Ligia was wonderful. She made sure to tailor the itinerary to our taste. Her knowledge about the ruins and mexican culture in general is incredible. I’d suggest to skip the tequila testing as it added little value to our experience. Overall great!

Worth every penny! Our tour guide Fabio and driver Tito were very friendly. Fabio was very knowledgeable and provided us with the complete history of Teotihuacan along every step of the tour. Stay for the tequila tasting with the local artisan family where you'll learn about how Pulque is made and so much more!

It was amazing! Our tour guide Ivan was so nice, interesting and thorough! He did a great job of taking us through the pyramids and surrounding ruin sites, and made it so interesting for us. Our tour was really well paced -- he gave us enough time to climb the pyramids and explore a little on our own, while also keeping us on time and making sure we got back to our hotel on time. The private car was really incredible (I loved being able to get back into the A/C afterwards!) and Maria our driver was really nice as well. I would highly recommend booking a private tour if possible; there is just so much to see and learn that doing so with a private tour guide is really the best way possible
