Board a van and travel with your archeologist-guide from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as the City of the Gods. A former Mesoamerican indigenous civilization that predates the Maya and Aztecs, Teotihuacan was once the largest city in Mexico, reaching its heyday in the 1st century CE (AD) when the Sun Pyramid was constructed.

Be one of the first visitors to arrive at the archeological park, right when it opens. In relative tranquility, wander through plazas and discover the pyramids without jostling around crowds. Enjoy taking unobstructed photos of must-see structures like the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalot.

Gain special insight into the complex’s less-visited monuments, including intricate murals and other architectural nuances. Hear about the latest archeological discoveries, the lifestyles of the inhabitants of this ancient city and theories behind the city’s decline.

Huff your way up the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid, the main axis of Teotihuacan. From the top, enjoy your bird’s-eye vantage point of the Avenue of the Dead, the primary road that runs through the center of the city, which separated the city and stretched from the Moon Plaza in the north to the Great Compound in the south.

After your Teotihuacan tour, hop aboard your transport and head to an obsidian workshop to learn more about the black volcanic rock native to the area. Chat with a local family and sample several liqueurs made from cactus, as well as mezcal, tequila, and pulque. For lunch, select from a variety of traditional Mexican dishes (own expense), before enjoying transport back to the central meeting point.

Lovely time on this tour! It was so nice to get there early and enjoy the ruins before the crowds. The guide had a bunch of really interesting facts about the ruins.

We enjoyed the temples but the tequila tasting went in too long. There was no need to stay for a hour and a half trying to get us to eat food that was terrible.

Josué was an amazing guide

Hands down one pf the best tours I've ever done. I hardly ever book a tour, I prefer to explore the sights at my own pace. But some places are difficult to get to and so I made an exception and did not regret it one second. Josué was an incredible guide. His insights were just to the point and not overwhelming. And we got time to roam and take pictures. It was so worth getting up real early. I hightly recommend this tour, of course Josué was a huge part of the success it was.

Great tour guide, rest not so good

Our guide was awesome—funny, responsible, passionate about history, and knowledgeable. The tour itself was good. The bus ride didn’t feel covid safe … in spite of wearing masks, too many people were breathing the same air for too long. A few people too their masks off on the bus. Also, the tequila tasting was more of a ploy to get us to buy stuff, and then we were led to a restaurant to buy lunch. My husband got terribly stomach sick from the food starting that evening, and the rest of us got mildly sick.

Great knowledgeable tour guides who were passionate about the history. The tequila tasting is more or less a tourist trap, but everything else was great

This was an excellent experience, and worth every second of time. The pyramids and ruins of Teotihuacan were a breathtaking thing to witness, and our tour guide Emmanuel was extremely knowledgeable when giving descriptions and answering questions. Additionally, the small stop afterwards at a small ranch and store was a perfect ending to the day, including tequila tasting, a fun history of the people, culture, and tools, and beautiful souvenirs for sale. The restaurant for lunch was also quite tasty. Highly recommend.

Stunning Achievement

The shear awe felt when seeing these massive pyramids is hard to convey. It's mind blowing that this huge city was abandoned and after 100 yea4s of excavation know one knows who built it. Truly a must see.
