Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Board a van and travel with your archeologist-guide from Mexico City to Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also known as the City of the Gods. A former Mesoamerican indigenous civilization that predates the Maya and Aztecs, Teotihuacan was once the largest city in Mexico, reaching its heyday in the 1st century CE (AD) when the Sun Pyramid was constructed.

Be one of the first visitors to arrive at the archeological park, right when it opens. In relative tranquility, wander through plazas and discover the pyramids without jostling around crowds. Enjoy taking unobstructed photos of must-see structures like the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, also known as the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, as well as the Palace of Quetzalpapalot.

Gain special insight into the complex’s less-visited monuments, including intricate murals and other architectural nuances. Hear about the latest archeological discoveries, the lifestyles of the inhabitants of this ancient city and theories behind the city’s decline.

Huff your way up the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid, the main axis of Teotihuacan. From the top, enjoy your bird’s-eye vantage point of the Avenue of the Dead, the primary road that runs through the center of the city, which separated the city and stretched from the Moon Plaza in the north to the Great Compound in the south.

After your Teotihuacan tour, hop aboard your transport and head to an obsidian workshop to learn more about the black volcanic rock native to the area. Chat with a local family and sample several liqueurs made from cactus, as well as mezcal, tequila, and pulque. For lunch, select from a variety of traditional Mexican dishes (own expense), before enjoying transport back to the central meeting point.

The guide was wonderful., providing details and helpful to me and my wife as we struggled with some physical demands. No temple steps, for us, but plenty to see.

The tour guide was on time and accommodated our transportation needs. However, the tour guide could of been more lively or animated during tour. She was not very interactive with group.

I had a great time on this tour Emmanuel was extremely knowledgeable and took time to answer every single question we had. We weren't allowed to climb on the structures at this time but it was still lovely. We had some great pictures and would recommend it to anyone

An exceptional experience with amigos tours!

The experience with Emmanuel was exceptional. You can tell he’s very passionate about the history of all the sites we visited. He was able to weave into the narrative both history and its implications on today’s world. Despite some of the pyramids being closed he still made it worth it. It was if I opened an encyclopedia - he’s very knowledgeable. I’d recommend going on this tour with Emmanuel. He’s great guide.

Good but the operator was not so clear
Bruna_V
, Aug 2020
The guide Lulu was very helpful and I had a great time with the group, but the operator didn’t let clear that due to Covid 19 the plans would change drastically and would not include the entrance in Teotihuacán pyramids area. Also, they sent me an email I could only see in the previous night, saying the departure time was 9AM, but on Viator app it was saying it would be 7AM, letting me confused. I think they should have let clear on the email about the changes in the route and the change in time due to Covid. The restaurant they took us was really good (many options of food and not only Mexican), as well as the tequila tasting.

We regret the misunderstanding. Because the archaeological sites are closed, we have given this option to our clients to have a panoramic view of the site. We will try to be clearer about this situation in future occasions. We appreciate the comment and we hope to be able to count on you again and visit Teotihuacán with us. Informative Session!
Brendan_C
, Apr 2020
My husband and I went on this tour at the end of February and overall enjoyed it. We did not realize how educational the day was going to be. It was interesting and our guide clearly knew his stuff, but it was a bit more than we wanted. If you want to know about the history of the site, this tour is definitely for you. It is a long day in the sun so bring water and sunscreen. We did not see anywhere to purchase water until after the tour.
