Morning Tour: Toledo Depart from Madrid in an air-conditioned coach and get acquainted with the rich heritage of Toledo as you listen to your guide along the scenic route. On arrival in the UNESCO-listed city, head straight to the Church of St Tome to witness one of El Greco’s most famous paintings; admire the delicate brushstrokes of The Burial of the Count of Orgaz as your guide offers insight into the life of the 16th-century artistic genius.

Next, take to the cobbled streets of the city to see an architectural amalgamation of Gothic, Renaissance, Arabic and Mudejar styles. Visit the colossal Cathedral of Toledo to hear of its 13th-century origin; gaze at the towering turrets of the medieval castle; and delve into the city’s Jewish heritage at the Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue. See a demonstration of "damascened"--precious metals inlaid in steel, then

enjoy some leisurely free time before reconvening with your group and guide for the next part of the tour.

Afternoon Tour: Aranjuez In the afternoon, continue your cultural exploration in the royal city of Aranjuez, located between the Tagus and Jarmara rivers. Stroll straight to the Palacio Real (Royal Palace), a majestic residence declared the centerpiece of Aranjuez’s UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape. Listen to tales of former royal residents and marvel at the distinct decorative styles as you venture inside the Throne Room of Elizabeth II and the Prince’s Gardens.

Relax amid the exotic flowers and water features of the gardens that have inspired works of art. Next take the time to see grand boats that carried royalty through canals at the Museum of Royal Feluccas, then return to the vehicle for the journey back to Madrid.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Toledo
Check in at our office in central Madrid at least 15 minutes in advance of your tour. Leave the city towards Toledo aboard one of our air-conditioned coaches. Relax and enjoy the scenery on the way to the city. Follow your local guide on a walking tour of the Historic City of Toledo, World Heritage City since 1986. Once Spain’s capital, it is a perfect mix of Arab, Jewish and Christian cultures. Learn about its fantastic heritage and see how the coexistence of cultures through the centuries influenced its current architectural style. Stroll amid the courtyard cloisters and royal coats of arms at the San Juan de los Reyes Monastery. Admire the building sponsored by Queen Elizabeth from Castilla to become a royal mausoleum, the most important construction built by the Catholic Monarchs. Right after the visit we will walk to the Synagogue of Sta. Maria la Blanca. Originally built as a synagogue, it was expropriated and became a Church only 211 years after it opened its doors. Today, it is a fantastic museum of Mudejar (Arabic) style that you will visit. Admire the world famous painting of by el Greco – The Burial of the Count of Orgaz – at the Church of St. Tomé. Did you know el Greco himself lived in this beautiful city? The walking tour will continue until we reach the Cathedral, considered of the most important Gothic Cathedrals in Spain. You will see it from the outside before the guided tour finishes. Then, you will have free time to explore Toledo on your own before returning to Madrid.

great history and scenery. loved toledo. the aqueduct was a wonder. the problem was the tour guides, especially the lady guide on the first day. she didn't keep the group together. she talked fast and was hard to hear. people who couldn't walk as fast as the guide were left wondering what it was they were looking at.

Good tour in a comfortable bus. Some walking but not strenuous. Guides were informative and easy to understand in English and Spanish. The half day Toledo felt a bit rushed. I would recommend a full day. It is interesting and worth going even if only for a half day.

Small-Group Pedraza and Segovia Tour from Madrid tour was good and I would recommend it to anyone but needs your operators to be customer focus when they sell the tickets rather than being bossy. I would like to give 4 star rating for the tour. By mistake the review relates to Madrid Combo Tour: Toledo and Aranjuez Royal Palace Day Trip VIATOR553318834 was written in the Small-Group Pedraza and Segovia Tour from Madrid VIATOR553318931 review space therefore move it to the correct tour review.

Excellent tours with great guides. These are really two half-day tours to sites in different directions from Madrid. So, first tour ends in Madrid with a quick hour (or less) for lunch and then the next tour leaves. This makes for a VERY strenuous and long day. Even though there is an escalator most of the way from the drop off point to upper Old Town Toledo, there is still a lot of hill left as well as stairs within the buildings visited. In addition, the Aranjuez Palace is multi-story. Even though I sat out and enjoyed a bench in the palace gardens after interior tour, I still had a wonderful time and would recommend the tour (but maybe split into two days).

Toledo was very interesting though but I think it would be great if they would a lot some time to purchase souvenirs in the old town of Toledo as well. The gardens in Aranjuez were beautiful. Our tour guide did not however appear knowledgeable enough or perhaps was not articulate enough to give more facts and interesting information about the Palace and its inhabitants in English. I felt I got more info from reading the placards provided by the palace at each point.

One piece of advice: take a bus from Madrid and go there by your own means, the Toledo tour was too short, couldn't visit what we wanted and couldn't take pictures of what we visited. It was very upsetting!! Then the Aranjuez Royal Palace is TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT! After visiting Toledo, you go back to Madrid only to take another bus to go to the palace and spend the day on the road to see... nothing that's worth it!

The guides were both every informative and friendly. They showed us a lot of the interesting sites and told us the important information. It would be better if it was a combined tour, as the trip back to Madrid was a bit unnecessary. I also wouldn't recommend the Aranjuez tour, only because the site itself is unorganised and inaccurate in terms of their flow of rooms, time periods and representation of rooms.

It was dissapointing. The employees at the office were rude and not helpful at all. Both hald dy tours were very late and caused inconvenience. The touts themselves were just ok...very rushed at times and boring at others. I would not do another tour nor would I recommend them.

A wonderful experience, our guide was very knowledgeable, kind, and to the point. Both places are very pretty. In my opinion Aranjuez was more impressive than el Palacio Real in Madrid.

The tour to Toledo was nice but a little too hard for my 87 years and my heart condition and I was not in shape to make the Aranjuez one the same day, so I asked Julia Travel to give me anothar date and they said it was not possible but they could cancel the Aranjuez part and Viator would reimbourse me, so I surrender my tickets to them. Ever since I have been asking you for such reimboursement on my credit card to no avail. So I trust this time you will acknowledge and comply. Thanks Carlos Alzamora
