La Paz Whale Shark Snorkeling Tour and Lunch From Los Cabos

Day starts with a 2+ hour drive from Cabo area to La Paz. You're given a bagged breakfast with a sandwich, small juice box and granola bar. My bag was missing the granola bar. It is not a marine biologist who tells you about the whale sharks, it's a local tour guide. You arrive at the La Paz marina and wait around for hours until it's your boat's turn to go. The tour guide walks you up and down a small boardwalk with some statutes and then takes you to a small beach. During this whole time you are wearing a wet suit they gave you that is dirty and makes you sweat to the point of taking it off and being stuck in just your bathing suit. You are told to leave all valuables at the tour stop when you first get to La Paz so at this point you have no money, phone, etc. There are 20+ boats waiting to go. The boat is small and you spend 3 hours sitting on a carbon fibre bench that gives you a sore back the next day from bouncing on all the waves. There are 10 people per small boat and they only let 3-4 people go in the water at once. Our boat had 3 groups and only the first group got to go in the water twice. Our tour guide kept avoiding the whale sharks that were there, saying that he wanted us to find our "own" shark. We never did. Lunch is dried out chicken tacos or fish tacos. My fish taco had a piece of metal BBQ brush string in it. You get 3 small tacos and no sides. BRING DRY CLOTHES TO CHANGE INTO if you decide to risk this tour. It was 12 hours from the time we left our hotel and returned. 7am-7pm. We spent approx. 5 minutes in the water with 1 small whale shark during that time.

The guys at Cabo Adventures love what they do and they know how to do it! They did a great job getting us into position to swim alongside the whale sharks. The sharks are huge and amazing. This is a must do!

This experience was definitely a once in a lifetime event! My husband and I and everyone on our boat got 3 dives into the water with the whale shark and the whole thing was photographed. To make it even more spectacular, upon leaving the bay we were surrounded by over 100 dolphins. Our guide Alex was so knowledgeable and friendly. He really made it worthwhile.

This was a great trip and experience. Guides and experience was great. Alex our guide was fun and provided us with a great experience. Only draw back was the process of getting the trip start from Cabo. Nearly an hour and half was spend waiting to get going. Activity was a great most do experience!

Nothing like the photos. I love an adventure and understand that weather and animals don't always cooperate but this was not anything like I expected. Water was murky, very difficult to see. You are expected to swim after the sharks-good luck. Guide lied about photos when I asked if I was in any of them. I was not in any underwater photos and the last photo i paid 50 on flashdrive included one of the guide Aaron and his buddy giving the finger to anyone.

A must do tour!! We departed from Cabo in a large group and then once in La Paz, we divided into smaller groups, allowing 6-8 people per small boat captain. Each of the boats swam with multiple whale sharks --- up so close you could have touched them. Such docile giants --- a once in a life time experience!!

This all day trip was all we had hoped for! Breakfast sandwiches were very nice. We were fortunate to volunteer to be on the boat with Aaron little brother which was only six of us. Aaron was extremely helpful and made sure everyone had a good view of the whale sharks, even my friend who was slow and tentative getting in the water. Four of us were able to get in and swim at least five different times, including with a 30-32 foot whale shark. Lunch was fish tacos and I went back for seconds.

This was a great tour. The guides were very organized and super friendly. They took us right to the Whale Sharks and we had a number of close interactions that were just amazing. The lunch was very good and we had lots of fun stopping at the Hotel California. My only negative is that there are a number of jellyfish swarms where I got badly stung and I had a really bad allergic reaction. It has been a week since the tour and I still look like I am covered in chickenpox. To be safe, you would want to wear a full wetsuit and make sure that there is some vinegar on hand to rinse you off if you get stung!

This tour was awesome! Eric was super knowledge and friendly as our guide! Would recommend this to anyone visiting los cabos :)

Our trip from Los Cabos to La Paz to swim with the whale sharks was excellent! There were only 3 whale sharks to be seen during our tour, but they allowed us to swim with and observe them lazily swimming through the clear sea water. This trip was on my bucket list and I am so very glad I got to do it! Leo was our tour guide on the two hour ride from Cabo to La Paz, and Mario was our guide on the boat with the whale sharks. He was very patient and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend this tour!!!
