Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your Lake Tahoe cruise starts at Zephyr Cove, where you’ll hop aboard the M.S. Dixie II. Set off toward Emerald Bay, listening to onboard narration about the formation of the bay, considered one of Lake Tahoe’s most beautiful locations.

Learn about its ‘little rock island,’ Fanette Island, the only isle on the lake, and hear about the history of Vikingsholm Castle, a stone mansion built right on the shore. You’ll have plenty of photo opportunities of the mountains, forests and beautiful shoreline during the cruise.

Also on board, watch a video presentation ‘Sunken Treasures of Lake Tahoe,’ which depicts what lies beneath the lake’s surface. Take a visual journey 500 feet (150 km) underneath the waters of Glenbrook Bay to explore the Steamer Tahoe, a boat that operated on the lake for 50 years before she was sunk. See underwater bluffs and canyons, travel through a forest of ancient petrified trees that caused scientists to reevaluate their theories of the lake’s size and evolution, and roam the bottom of Emerald Bay for a look at sea mounds.

If you are on the morning cruise during the summer months, you have the option for a buffet lunch, made up of deli meats, salad, soup, cheese, bread, chili, cookies, tea, soda and water. Beverages may also be purchased from the onboard bar (own expense).

Your cruise ends when you return to Zephyr Cove.

Not covid recommended

Too crowded and hard to move around too much if you want to keep your seat. For a 75F day you roasted in deck and inside was hot too. No covid restrictions a delta variant potential hot spot.

Family Time on the MS Dixie II.

That was a fun relaxing ride on the lake. We enjoyed ourselves and met some nice people around us. Staff was very polite, professional, and friendly! Only complaint, we sat up top in the back by the paddles and could not hear the stories and info being shared on the speakers.

I was disappointed that Viator canceled my evening dinner Cruise reservation on this same boat, saying it wasn't available, when in fact there was availability. I went and got the dinner Cruise reservation myself.

Great views and the history they give is very interesting. This would have been 5 stars but the volume on the was very very low and most people could not hear it. Get there an hour early to get best seats!

The trip was good and enjoyable, however the P A speakers were blown and so distorted you cold not understand a word the tour guide said. So bad I was tempted to ask for some of fare to be refunded.

Could have been so memorable but cloudy and rained in the middle of the tour. Better luck next time. Will go with MSDixie again. Good customer service.

The ticket buying and subsequent checkin process was cumbersome and time consuming. Parking is challenging. The onboard narration was drowned out by screaming passengers. The tour was uninspired. I advise you to find an alternative

Avoid During Fire Season

This was a waste of money. We should have had an option to cancel for a refund due to the fires. There were no views because of the smoke. When I booked I had no idea the wildfires would be a problem. I am highly disappointed.

Something else to do while in Lake Tahoe.

It’s well organized. The food service personnel were very professional. The boat was clean . It could have been better if they informed us that there was an available shuttle that can take us from our hotel . We had to ask our hotel Concierge The booking personnel had no knowledge, I was just told it’s a walking distance from where we checked in . ( I gave her the hotel address ) No way , a walking distance!!!!! However the trip was good . Something to do while I’m Lake Tahoe . Thank you
