    This activity will end right where it started.You will meet your guide and driver BEHIND THE PORT GATES holding our SPB-Tours/Baltic Experiences sign. Note that the distance between the ship and the gates varies in different ports in Helsinki: at Hernesaari port about 656 feet = 200 metres at West Harbour about 820 feet = 250 metres at Katajanokka about 328 feet = 100 metres Make sure to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Please be punctual. You can find the start time on Viator's message system. Out of consideration for the others, the guide and driver will wait only 5-10 minutes after the scheduled departure time to begin the tour. The last thing we want is for anyone to miss their tour.     The guide Irena was articulate and knowledgeable and friendly. Poorvo was quaint and didn't disappoint. Helsinki highlights were very well thought out.

    It was rainy all day, but I'll try not to cloud my comments. Our tour tickets said 8:00 am but to absolutely arrive at 7:45 am. The tour guide/bus did not appear until 8:30 and then wanted to argue that we had somehow made the mistake (even when looking at our tickets). The tour of the city was a bit mundane, saved by a visit to the new FANTASTIC Helsinki Public Library - which was a substitute for outdoor sightseeing. It is so much more than a library - anyone going there should include it on your must-see list. Porvoo was about 40 minute highway drive, lots of cobblestones and steep walking for the mobility challenged. It was Sunday and everything was closed. The tour included a soup/salad lunch at a local restaurant and then we returned to Helsinki. Overall, close to a waste of time. The guide was knowledgeable but seemed was suffering from a bit of burnout. Or maybe it was the weather.....

    The old medieval town of Porvoo was enchanting and worth the 40 minute drive. Easy to navigate on flat shoes, the town has three main roads filled with shops and cafes. Irina was an informative guide with a very efficient tour company SPB. We all had headsets and this keeps you engaged in the tour as you can wander as she talks and still hear the guide. I think the Porvoo tour was a bit long with very little free time.It is such a charming town it would have been nice to stroll through the shops. 30 minutes not enough. I know it's not a shopping tour but there was not much to see there except a church. I'm sure the shop keepers would have appreciated this as well. The tour of Helsinki was fine, a little unimpressed but this is an understated,modest and highly efficient nation and not Versaille or St. Petersburg. By the time we got to the market place she gave us 20 minutes to explore on our own. It took five minutes to walk to the indoor market leaving 10 minutes to explore and 5 minutes back. Not enough. The buffet lunch was good with a great deal of choice. The ride back to the ship along the lake shore was beautiful. Lovely green space and beautiful homes and embassies. I recommend this tour to cruisers.

    Helsinki is a beautiful, calm city with an interesting history, intertwined with both Russia & Scandinavia. We loved seeing the city & hearing the history-our guide was wonderful! She had an interesting perspective, being raised in Ukraine, but spending most of her adult life in Finland. The drive out to Porvoo is beautiful, and the little village is so fun to walk through & do a bit of shopping. Try the chocolate shop there-it is divine!
