Itinerary
Stop At:
Lake Chapala
We begin our tour to Chapala starting with the visit to the old station of the French facade train whose construction was completed around 1920. To continue with the beautiful boardwalk, we walk and admire the view of the largest lake from Mexico. By December 1955, Lake Chapala was in one of its worst droughts, that is why it is decided to take the virgin of Zapopan and make a pilgrimage looking for the miracle of the rain, as a result of this event in June 1956, it rained so much in the storm that it recovered and thanks to this miracle a thank-you mass is celebrated every year on the 1st of July.

Wonderful tour

First off, the communication with the tour provider was excellent. They confirmed our pickup time and were there at exactly the time they said. The bus was comfortable and the tour guide very knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs. Our stops in Chápala and Ajijic had ample time for us to explore all the town had to offer and to taste the local food. The weather was wonderful , be sure to take a light jacket as the Chapala Lake is a bit windy. It’s absolutely beautiful and boat tours are available from local providers there. Make sure to take plenty of water on the trip. The stops were very good and we were told all the history of all the places we went. I will be recommending this tour to everyone , it was absolutely great and our tour guide Carmen was absolutely wonderful.

Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Guadalajara area. Lake Chapala and Ajijic are a lovely little get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our tour guide Norberto was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, and went out of his way to make sure we were having a good experience. It was a very enjoyable trip.

Best tour in Chapala and Ajijic. Norberto gave us detailed explanations about the history and the culture of each city. We visited lakes, markets and churches. Learned many interesting facts about the city’s origin and culture. After the tour was over, Norberto helped us find an excellent restaurant for lunch with a beautiful view of lake Ajijic. Would recommend this tour for anyone!

Wasn’t what we Expected

Tour guide was great at the history telling part but we didn’t really get to explore Ajijic, we only sat in van and then we’re dropped off at a restaurant that tour guide chose. We were hoping to have time to look around shops in Ajijic. We wouldn’t recommend this tour.

Dear Amig@ Thank you for letting us know your comments. We are investigating what happened with our colleagues, as your satisfaction is our goal, however, we are told by our staff that the restaurant that was suggested to you and that you decided to go to, was to your liking, both the food and the view. We do not force our clients to visit specific restaurants, we only suggest them. However, we will reinforce with our team the points you suggest, and we reiterate our thanks for your confidence. We are sorry if the experience did not meet your expectations. Dulce, Amigo Tours

We enjoyed this tour. It was a good mix of commentary by the guide with free time. Ajijic is more interesting than Chapala. Our guide was terrific.

Really good way to see the lake and surrounding towns if you are new to the area.. Really informative guide who knew a lot about not only the local area but also other parts of Mexico and it's history and culture. I really enjoyed the day and would recommend it to anybody who either just wants a single visit or to somebody.who maybe is considering a longer stay and wants to get an overview of the region.

My guide Berenice was amazing! She’s the kind of person who has a natural passion about history and storytelling and was able to talk about not only Chapala and Ajijic, but pre-contact cosmology, linguistics, architecture, food production, the Porfiriato and more. Lago de Chapala is extremely serene (I visited on a weekday), with picturesque fishing boats, beautiful boardwalks with palm trees, and lots of pelicans. Best to wear really comfortable shoes because of the cobblestone streets, especially in Ajijic. Definitely take this tour!
