Your full-day tour through the Scottish Highlands departs from central Edinburgh in the morning. Meet your friendly guide and settle in for the northbound ride toward Inverness. Along the way, pass the dramatic Forth Railway Bridge—a UNESCO-listed bridge that once boasted the largest cantilever span in the world – and pause in Pitlochry for some tasty refreshment (own expense).

Continuing north, wind through Cairngorms National Park, catching lovely views of peaks and waterfalls rushing through craggy ravines. Soon arrive at the mythical Loch Ness, where you have free time to explore the surrounding countryside, visit Urquhart Castle, or grab lunch (own expense). Or purchase an optional cruise on the loch for some tranquil sightseeing and a cheeky search for the famed water monster, Nessie.

Next, continue your coach tour to Glen Coe, a glen of breathtaking beauty that boasts high mountain peaks, ridges, bubbling rivers, and waterfalls. Hear about the historic MacDonald clan that resided here and suffered in the brutal massacre of 1692.

From here, begin your return trip to Edinburgh, passing Stirling Castle on the way. Snap some photos of the historic site—former residence of Scottish royals including Mary, Queen of Scots—and learn about its colorful history, riddled with warfare such as the Battle of Stirling Bridge, led by William Wallace.

Then relax for the return ride to Edinburgh, where your full-day trip ends back at the starting point in the evening.

It was a great trip in the highlands with a great guide! Steven B. had a lot historical facts and mystical story’s to talk about and made the 12 hours tour to a unforgettable adventure. We don’t have to talk about the fact, that the highlands are a breathtaking and wonderful place, which are a must see if you are in Scotland. It was absolutely worth it! Thank you very much! :-)

We would highly recommend this tour! It's a very long day but completely worth it. The views of the Highlands from the bus were amazing. We were offered 2 optional excursions while on the tour. One is for the longer boat tour of Loch Ness or a shorter boat tour and Urquhart castle. I would definitely recommend the boat/castle combo. Some of the most beautiful views ever! Murry was a great guide too!

Worth the time

Yep, it’s a long day, just as advertised, but would you come to Scotland and skip the highlands? No. I had 4 days in Edinburgh, used one for this tour, and it was worth the time to see the countryside, the highlands, good castle ruins, and the lochs. You don’t want to go home and tell your friends that you came all this way, and didn’t go see Loch Ness.

Awesome day travelling through the Highlands!!! Tour guide Robert was amazing! Very charismatic, funny and knowledgeable about Scottish history. It’s a long day and a lot of it is spent in the coach, but it’s well worth it.

I had a couple of days in Edinburgh and I really wanted to go further afield for some stunning scenery. There were several tours from different companies of the same areas to choose from, roughly the same cost each. I am so glad I picked this one. My driver/guide was Steven B. He was friendly, chatty, funny and knew his stuff of course. He pointed out all the sights and we stopped off at loads for pics and to enjoy the scenery and fresh Scottish country air. Anything you want to know about Scotland, he'll tell you. Absolutely brilliant tour guide. If the others are only half as good then you can't go wrong no matter which driver/guide you get. Glencoe is just stunning but the highlight for me was Loch Ness. I've been wanting to go since I was little. For a cruise on Loch Ness, your tour guide can arrange it for you and you just pay for the ticket. Cash only but there are cash machines at various stops along the way if you only have your card on you. The cruise is definitely worth doing. Thanks for the brilliant day out!
