Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Depart Edinburgh by comfortable vehicle, and journey along the Firth of Forth.

Learn about Outlander, the historical time-travel TV series based on Diana Gabaldon’s stories, and hear trivia about its characters and Scotland’s history.

Stop for photos at 16th-century Midhope Castle, used as Lallybroch Castle, and visit Blackness Castle, the 15th-century fortress that doubled as Black Jack’s headquarters.

Explore the castle (own expense), seeing why it’s called 'the ship that never sailed,’ before traveling to Linlithgow. Take a stroll around this small town or visit ruined Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, and setting of Wentworth Prison, where Jamie was imprisoned.

Continue to Callendar House, enjoying about 45 minutes to explore this 14th-century mansion-turned-museum, whose kitchen served as the Duke of Sandringham's house. Then, visit the village of Culross whose medieval houses perfectly illustrate 18th-century Scotland, and see Mercat Cross, used as fictional Cranesmuir.

View the Culross Palace gardens, home of Claire’s herb garden, and after refreshments (own expense) at the Biscuit Café, take photos of the Tuileries standing stones (time-dependent).

Finally, visit 17th-century Hopetoun House, admiring its interior and grounds, which starred as the Duke of Sandringham’s residence, before finishing at the start point in Edinburgh.

Please note: Blackness Castle is closed on Fridays from October 1, 2017 through to March 31, 2018. The tour will include a photo stop at the castle during this period.

Martin did an excellent job making sure we stopped at as much as we could considering many of the castles were closed due to Covid. We all enjoyed Outlander stops so much can’t wait to get home to watch the series over again

Our trip out was enjoyable right from the start, we were met at our departure point, by a very welcoming guide. Our bus then turned up and our guide Martin was great, very knowledgeable and really nice. Scenery was lovely, every landmark was pointed out to us and a story behind it . . Really enjoyed our day out.

great day out for followers of Outlander

enjoyed all aspects of the day trip. The amount of time spent at each location was just right. Whilst a number of locations were closed due to health and safety inspections, there was enough Outlander content to satisfy fans.

It's not the tour operators fault but the whole tour was very disappointing as the things to see are so different to tv show, the driver Stuart was very helpful and knew a lot about history which we enjoyed, think lallybroch could have been included as there was no problem to park up the road, we did that by ourselves and that was the best of the lot. Just thing all a rip off re tv show.

Amazing Experience- Incredible Tour Guide!!!

What an incredible time we had on the Outlander Tour with our tour guide, Paul. His knowledge of Scottish history was astonishing as he told us stories of Jacobites, kilts, Tartans, highland weaponry and more. Paul was even able to provide more insight to us about our personal ancestry and clan. He is a wonderful story teller and we were on the edge of our seats listening as he spoke. The tour took us to some great places that can easily be identified from the Outlander series. What a treat! High suggested if you are an outlander fan!
