    Good luck catching a bus

The bus option is a joke. Don’t waste your money or get your hopes up. The green “Hop On Hop Off” bus shown in a previous review is apparently no longer the bus company associated with this pass. Those buses are easy to find, the drivers are great and the bus stops are clearly marked. The bus associated with THIS pass are burgundy colored and few and far between. In the 3 days we spent in Dublin we saw TWO the whole time and with no bus stop signage anywhere in site, we were unable to flag one down. We ended up having to walk- we could find a single bus or bus stop despite the crappy map they make you download. Eventually we just hailed a couple of cabs to get where we needed to go. However, the city pass itself was handy. I strongly recommend looking at the list of attractions associated with the pass, look up the average time they take, and planning your day in advance. We found we could only feasibly fit 3 attractions a day (depending on what and where they are.) If I had to do this again, I would get a city pass cheaper directly from City Pass and purchase a separate bus tour with the green “Hop On Hop Off” bus company.

    Not too impressed

Not aware that Hopon Hop Off was for only one day. Not really easy to know what was available without relying on internet which was spotty at times. Found several attractions that needed rebuying of tickets which we could not do so had to take chances that there was availability. This seems like it could be a problem during peak times.

I bought the pass and was lead to believe, I could use the bus for the 2 days I had the pass. This was the main reason for buying it, to find it only valid fir one day!!! Not happy!!!

    Great value for money!

We used the Dublin pass for two days and definitely get our money's worth! Dublin us brilliant and there's so much to see and do. I feel like you definitely need more time to be able to do everything. The best value for money would be the 5-day pass as you would be able to see absolutely everything without rushing around at all. It all depends on whether you have the time to spend in the city. So in our two days we did: Hop-on sightseeing bus, GPO building, Teeling Distillery, Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery and Dublinia. For the two distilleries, you need to join a tour group, so it would be good to go in the morning to pre-book your time slot. Guinness Storehouse allows re-entry on the same day if you haven't finished the tour. We also did Kilmainham Gaol but that's not included in the pass, so we could have potentially done more. We rushed around all day to do as much as possible but we couldn't have gotten any more done in the two days. We had free drinks at Hard stock Cafe and a free gift in Carroll's Gift Store thanks to the pass. For reference, If you purchase your Dublin pass through Viator, you get an email with mobile tickets which you just present on entry to any of the sights. All in all, I'd recommend the Dublin Pass for sure! The only slightly annoying part of booking this way is that you have to go into a tourist center to ask for a spare guide book, but that's available online too. Their guide book actually has some misleading information on opening times for some of the sights.

I purchased a 2 day Dublin Pass - I assumed that this gave me two days on the hop on hop off bus plus free entry to some of the venues for those two days. I was surprised to learn on the first day that I was only entitled to one day on the hop on hop off bus, and two days of entry to the various venue.

Hop on Hop off Bus is a great way to tour through Dublin and get a sense of the the city, all while listening to a recording or live guide describing the sites, and history. The Dublin Pass was great... gets you free admission to a lot of the top attractions, including the Guineas Storehouse, Jameson Distillary, EPIC museum, and the Jeannie Johnston Tall ship.... you also get to skip to the front of the line at some places....

Never really used the pass for entry at any of the attractions, mostly just do to my own time constraints. Was really good to use to get to the key places. Drivers are really good and got some good jokes and willing to give directions if you ask.

Only of value if you intend to go to the most touristy of tourist sites in quick succession. The bus gives a useful overview of the city, but because it meanders it can take a long time to get to the place you want to alight. One of our buses also broke down. Occasionally the bus lingers at a stop for no apparent reason, testing one’s patience. The recorded commentary is much clearer to hear than the commentary provided by a driver, which can be verbose and inaudible as well as annoyingly anecdotal.

This vendor was horrible. They didn't give us the e-ticket or send us any information like the book they say you get. I had to contact Viator 3 times and they couldn't help me either. When I got to Dublin I went to a Dublin Travel Info store and they were wonderful and gave me everything I needed. Go there or direct to Dublin Pass.

Regular hop on hop off. Sometimes there is a guide and sometimes not. Peter was a great guide. The problem was that viator/TripAdvisor did not give all the info needed nor did the Dublin pass site. Boarding starts at 9 am at the first stop. The buses will be a red one Sightseeing Dublin that has a colorful design or the Big Bus that is Maroon and Off-White. The first stop you will have to find a sign a block north and across the street of the GMO. The wait time between buses is usually 30 mins. So if you get out of Book of Trinity/Book of Kells and get to the stop around 11:15. Then wait about 15-30 mins depending on traffic. I hope this helps.

Excellent value. A must have if you are in Dublin especially for a short visit. You get to see things you probably wouldn't do if you had to buy the ticket separately. You do have to get alot in each day which means moving quickly. I would recommend at least getting the two day pass so you can get more in. We loved the tours of Jameson distillery, Teeling Distillery, and the Guiness Storehouse. Those asking with the Hop on, Hop off bus tour made it worth it. We did a few other things we would not have done without the pass. My only advice is know the bus schedule and drop off/pick up points. There is an app for the busses which was a lifesaver.

I appreciated the fact that there were people located near the signs and/or bus stops, with appropriate labels which let me know who to speak to regarding timing etc. They also advised me as to which bus tours were long and which short. I loved seeing the highlights of Dublin from up higher that street-level ...plus our driver, Dermo gave us more history than I'd expected complete with some well-sung songs - songs that complimented the particular building/pub or time in Irish history!.. Bravo!

A great start to the city

    , Oct 2018
This bus experience was a great start to seeing the city. The Guinness Experience made the price of this ticket worth it. My difficulties with it were from a lack of information as to where to pick up the bus. The answer is O'Connell Street. But, you have to ask around for the correct bus. Nowhere on the ticket or purchase receipt did it state this. We really did not have time with the 24 hour pass to use the included sightseeing options. I would really only recommend this ticket if you are purchasing for 48 hours. Otherwise, the regular hop on bus is much less expensive.

Would wait to purchase when I arrive in the future. Bus drivers were not familiar with the new Viator QR paper, was told we needed to activate. Unfortunately spent hours on Sunday 9/2 trying to get to the right person before offices closed, we made it with 10 minutes to spare Between the bus drivers, the hop on hop off office on O'Connell St, then sent to the Dublin Visitor center on Grafton St not far from the Dublin Castle to be told our printed passes did not need to be activated. And were told we were not the first visitors to have this problem, but they were closing the Visitor Center so she was not able to do more than suggest the Dublin Castle to walk to before they closed. The next time we utilized the bus after we toured the Dublin Castle the bus driver had no issue with the paper Viator passes, we then got off at the Guinness Storehouse, mistake because it was closed by then but the bus driver did not mention this. Waited for the next bus and the next bus driver issued us the bus ticket that apparently should have been issued when we caught the bus near St. Patricks. The wait times were not accurate, the green Go Dublin buses came more frequently, found ourselves waiting for longer than 15-20 min. This was frustrating to lose hours of sightseeing because everyone was not on the same page. Also, we found the booking ref #, the IT # did not give us access to the Dublin Pass website to download the book electronically, per the email message we received prior to leaving the states. This was not the experience we were hoping for.

Dublin Pass with Hop-On Hop-Off Tour and Entry to over 30 Attractions

    , Sep 2018
Unpleasant experience. We had a great deal of trouble having the Dublin Passes validated. Almost every time we got on the Hop-On Bus we had the same difficulty. We porbably wasted a few hours with this problem. We were with another couple who had the same bad experience. After much time wasted, we went to the tourist center where the Passes were finally validated correctly and he was nice enough to go to one of the offices of the Hop-On Hop Off Bus Sites to straighten out all the problems. By the time this was accomplished we lost a good portion of the sightseeing day and we were all thoroughly frustrated. I actually think a partial or full refund would be in order. In any event, the Hop-On Hop-Off buses did not run as frequently as stated and we did not get to see that much on day two of the two day Dublin Pass.
