One Day Tour to Chacchoben Mayan City and Bacalar Lagoon with a Certified Guide

Grisel was a great tour guide. She have us a great explanation at Chacchoben. Bacalar resort was also great. The lagoon is incredible.

The experience was amazing. Our guide and driver was the main reason. Carlos and Eddie were great examples of customer service employees. First they got us to the ruins first before any other visitors and it was amazing. We had the entire place to ourselves and Eddie was so knowledgeable about the history and answered all of our questions. As we were leaving the place was packed but we had our alone time and it was great. We then drove to the lagoon. Again we were the second group there and there were very few people. Again Eddie was very knowledgeable and was the best guide. Our driver was Carlos and he was such a great driver. He helped us load and unload and really was such a great driver. Best experience during our entire trip!

This tour was absolutely amazing! I think we had the best tour guide (Ms. Grisel aka Grisey) and the best van driver (Mr. Miguel)! Grisel is a brilliant person and she was VERY knowledgeable about the Mayan Ruins. The Mayan Ruins was very interesting and an amazing site to see. The seven color lagoon was absolutely breath taking! Pictures and words cannot do it any justice at all. You just have to see it in person. The food and drink at the lagoon site was absolutely delicious as well. I would highly recommend this tour.

Erik was a well spoken, intelligent and personable guide. Throughout the day he provided unusual information in a very easy to understand format. The driver was also wonderful, following behind the group at the ruins, offering cold water just as we all needed it. The resort was lovely the food delicious and plentiful. If you chose to take this tour bring water shoes to enter the lagoon. I wholeheartedly recommend.

Was an awesome excursion ! The only negative was the lagoon was very rocky with sharp rocks at bottom and the ladder to get in had a broken lower step and it made it very hard to get in and out of lagoon with out pain and awkwardness

Experienced this tour with my wife and four others from our cruise ship. Finding the pickup location was a bit of work but I could have done more homework on the front end. Transportation was a comfortable van. Had a driver and a guide. Our guide (Juan?) was superb. From what we were told he was a university professor who does this job on the side. He has a passion for all things Mayan and was extremely entertaining, knowledgeable, and concerned for our enjoyment. We beat most of the bigger tour buses to the ruins which made Juan very pleased. Even had some monkeys close by during our stop. Headed then to the lagoon which was relaxing. Some kayaked, some stayed and relaxed. Overall very pleased with this tour.

Really enjoyed this excursion. Edgar was out guide and he was great. Best of all they waited for us as it was difficult getting off our ship and we were over an hour late. They got us back on time, too. The lagoon was gorgeous, the ruins were so-so.

First of all, I have to say that our guide Miriam was OUTSTANDING! A guide can make all the difference and she did. The Chacchoben Mayan City was very enjoyable, easy walking to the ruins along level ground and mostly shaded. We saw spider monkeys which were very cool. Miriam offered to take pictures for us, which we appreciated. Water was available at all times. Lunch at the Bacalar Lagoon was very good - we enjoyed it. The lagoon was a little different than expected. Kayaking, swimming was available - but hardly enough time to change and spend time in the water. Wish we could have had another 30-60 minutes there. This is my only complaint - otherwise it was a very nice excursion. We stopped at a local fruit stand briefly on the way back. Local owner had fruit all cut up and ready to hand out for $1 - very, very good.

Edd, our certified guide, college educated in Mexican history was super.....very small group(8) and that was split up with 2 different drivers because the group went to different places after the Ruins( Peter and Sual)…..2 of us went to private resort on a huge Blue Lagoon, fresh water, clear, clean and very nice lunch with open bar... all included. Highly recommend! We were on a cruise ship so it took some time to get to their office ( 4 long block walk ) after you get out of maze of shops they force you to walk through to get to town streets....allow 10 -15 minutes to get out of the maze!!

We had a little difficulty finding the start of this tour, as we had to walk through the town a ways and the signage was non-existent (there were no signs for Viator, as we didn't realize we needed to be looking for a local tour company with a different name). However, once we found it, we were well taken care of all day. Our guide, Diego Mex, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the site and knew how to manage our time well to avoid crowds, etc. He spoke English very well and was very personable. The van we rode in was comfortable and air conditioned, driven by a good driver named Carlos. Water bottles were provided. Lunch was an open air taco buffet with 3 free drinks and quite satisfactory. The lagoon is beautiful and the kayaking fun (and included). Be sure to bring water shoes or sandals, though, as the bottom of the lagoon is extremely rocky. I was surprised how cold the water was. Decent bathrooms were available throughout the day, and change rooms available at the lagoon.
