Great tour! Factual & interesting. Highly recommend for adding to your Chicago must list. The docent isn’t paid but shows her passion. Very knowledgeable.

Buildings - but did not like your guide, would not return because of that. Too much emphasis on architects would have preferred a lighter a more interesting guide.

Just ok

Just Ok, did it one time, will not repeat. Based on rave reviews I was really hoping for a lot more in terms of commentary but it was just a bunch of isolated facts thrown together, not a cohesive story. Disappointing. About the boat experience: ride was super smooth, one could stand easily during turns and take pictures, so captain did great job. Their downstairs area had plenty of space and AC worked well. The bar exceeded my expectations on what sorts of drinks/food were available. But it would be impossible to listen to commentary downstairs: a) sound is muted there; b) windows are small and one wouldn't be able to see all buildings (and on both sides). Upstairs seating is plenty but don't forget your hats and sunscreen if you visit during summer.

I was not expecting the beauty of the city. It is more beautiful than NYC. Chicago is so well known for it's criminal history, the beauty is not well known or is forgotten.

Great tour! Took my college age daughter who is an architect major, my mom, aunt, and cousins. We really enjoyed it. This is my second time doing this tour and my only suggestion, you need a different sound system. It is difficult to hear the tour guide so you need to get there early and sit close to the guide.

Glad that you had a great tour but sorry you had sound issues. We'll give that system a test and make sure it is operating at tit's best. Happy Birthday Grandma!

Rich information
Susan_P

Lots of information that went beyond the architecture. For example, I never knew that Chicago was built on lots of clay. I would have liked to have known what was along Chicago river before the recent skyscrapers. I know Grand central was torn down. Was the rest of it mostly warehouses and storage and docks?
icon Response from Host , May 2021
The river did originally serve as our "port" so yes, the banks were mostly warehouses, grain elevators, and other shipping structures. Glad you learned something unexpected!
