A must do if you like food and like to cook
, Jan 2020
The trip started on time with tthe guide Hazel who picked me up at the hotel. We went to a local market so we can look at local produce. We bought some ingredients that we used to cook. We even tried some local food and learned to make some dumplings. Later in a home style tea house, we learned how to cook 3 different dishes. Chef Chan was very patient and sweet. We later shared the food we cooked. On the whole it was a very good afternoon. 5 stars!
Unique experience

This was a relaxing, fun and unique tour. Winter promptly picked me up from the hotel before meeting another person. We walked the short distance to the wet markets where Winter showed us around, answered all my questions and let us taste different things. We then took a short stroll to the Cool Chilli China office where we stopped to have a tea and snack break before heading into the kitchen. The cooking process was easy enough for a low to moderate cook but very fast past when using the wok. Winter translated the chef’s instructions and after we made each dish we got to taste test them before having a sit down meal. I thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience and would highly recommend.
Great/Fun/Delicious class - Highly Recommend!

We had a great time in our Chengdu Cooking Class. Our guide Hazel was great - very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She provided great information about the market and overall Chengdu food tips, Our diverse group was excellent and were a lot of fun. It was really interesting going through the market with Hazel explaining so many different, interesting foods (along with tastes on the way). Had a great time cooking and the food was really delicious. Don't eat before you go - there is so much and it's so good. Hotel pick-up and drop off worked great and everything was on-time. Really recommend this class for a great half-day activity. The only suggestion would be to provide a hard copy of the recipes (vs. electronic that we couldn't open). Thanks Hazel!
Fun cooking experience!

We joined Lance, our chinese guide, and three others to tour a local market and attend the cooking class. It was a great experience- learned a lot about Chinese ingredients and got to taste local spring rolls, rice wine and such. Then cooked some very spicy and tasty Sichuan food! Highly recommend

Our guide, Ocean, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We started our tour by visiting a large, local market where we each had a mission to find and purchase a specific item. At the market, we learned to make pork wontons and enjoyed freshly made spring rolls for a snack. Then we walked to a nearby restaurant where there is a beautiful courtyard and an outdoor kitchen. We took a break and sipped some tea then cooked for about an hour. It was so much fun to learn traditional Chinese cooking and use all of the appropriate tools. Afterwards we enjoyed all of the incredibly amazing food that we cooked. Ocean emailed us all of the recipes we cooked and extras just for fun. We have made the dishes several times and shared them with our friends and family who really appreciated them as well. This class was definitely one of the highlights of our trip -- you can't miss it!

The half-day cooking class was an overall awesome experience! Our guide, Ocean, was extremely friendly, informative, and easy to talk to. She took us around some fascinating local markets, taught us about ingredients, and brought us back to a quaint tea-house to prepare the ingredients and cook. The class was organized, well-rounded, and most importantly, a lot of fun! I learned so much about Sichuan cooking and would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in Chinese food and culture.
