The trip begins at Napoopoo Landing, where you meet your guide and learn kayaking safety, before setting out towards the Captain Cook Monument and Kealakekua Bay.

As you paddle the clear, protected waters, keep an eye out for Hawaiian spinner dolphins as they splash and leap by the shore. In winter, it’s common to see humpback whales as they spout and breach in the distance. Throughout the paddle, your local guide explains the features you see along the coast, from towering sea cliffs or Pali o Kapu o Keoua to Napo’opo’o Beach and the ancient remnants of Kawa’aloa village.

When you eventually arrive at the Captain Cook monument, pull your kayak up on the shore and prepare for the scenic hike, and spend time snorkeling the waters of Kealakekua Bay. Enjoy lunch by the monument, soaking in the views.

The tour ends with a guided paddle back to Napoopoo Landing.

Kayak snorkel trip

Jamal was the best guide I’ve had on the island, highly recommend this trip. Saw the most beautiful wildlife and scenery on the island so far, very cool!
Jamal was a fantastic guide!!

Jamal was a fantastic guide!! His passion for and knowledge of the reef (and thee Captain Cook Monument) was infectious and it made us want to explore more. From the pods of young spinner dolphins, to the white-tipped reef sharks, so many schools of fish, and even a Honu! Aloha Kayak Company is one we will surely explore with again.
Just average

The tour guide was late to the meeting time - but he did text us and said he was late. I think the trip should have been cancelled as conditions were rough. The wind and current was strong enough that the trip was not enjoyable

My boyfriend and I had the BEST time with Jamal. We kayaked across the bay, snorkeled with all sorts of fish and aquatic life and even swam with dolphins! Jamal not only was an excellent guide, he was very conscientious about keep the variety of tourists safe and keeping the reef safe.
Great Fun

Jamaal our guide was extremely knowledgeable on the local history and kayaking. Snorkeling was great. Unfortunately didn't see any dolphins but that did not detract from the trip. For those looking for a great place to snorkel this is it!

I repeat do NOT book. Not only did they no show, but Viator tours tried to say WE were the ones who didn’t show! Book someone else through trip advisor!!! I am in AWE how this experience was!! I have proof, Aloha tours no-showed, his voicemail was full, and then when we complained to Viators they “tried to reach the supplier” and then sent ME and email saying WE were the ones who No-showed. TWO other families were there waiting for him to show. DO NOT BOOK!!!!
Doesn't work for NCL cruise ship
, Jul 2018
I booked this excursion while on a NCL cruise. the tour was advertised as 3 and a half hours. When I called to get information about the exact location, I was told that the tour was really five hours. This made it impossible to do. Make sure if you book this tour check with the vendor about the correct time, as the info on Viator was not accurate.

Our tour guide, Jason, was amazing. He was very personable and went out of his way to make sure we were having a good time. My wife and I were the only two people on the tour, so it was like we had a private experience. We snorkeled for about two hours at the reef, and saw a variety of fish and a sea turtle. On the way back, we saw a pod of dolphins. A few even jumped out of the water and did spins. The sandwiches provided were standard deli fare, but were pretty good. The snorkel equipment was new, and the kayak was fine. We learned a bit about the history of the island.
Dont book thru this tour company but...

Dont book thru this tour company but definitely do this excursion! We waited for over 30 minutes for someone to arrive at their office and not only did no one show up but we never received a call back or email. We found out that this is not uncommon unfortunately with this tour company. Check out Kona Boys for the same tour - its a bit more but nothing substantial and definitely worth it. Lots of fish including a mana ray and sea turtle - easy kayak, good lunch and very helpful, courteous guides who made the trip easy and fun! Thank you Joe and Jake!
