Good show but disappointing buffet

Somewhat disappointing in comparison to luaus attended in the past. The buffet was uninspiring. The show was entertaining especially the fire dance! The kids loved it.

Very friendly greeting upon arrival. Each of us received a handmade shell lei. The meal was buffet style with plenty of food. Simple traditional fare. The entertainment was amazing. It included traditional dances depicting the history of Hawaii. Overall a memorable experience.

Royal Kona Lu'au

We have been to Hawaii 7 times and this was our 1st lu'au. It was entertaining and the mai tais were good. I do think all the lu'aus are over priced but it was a neat experience.

Good for families, but skip if you’re a solo traveller.

This is a great experience for families and perhaps couples. Not a great experience for those traveling solo, especially since they place you farther back from the stage and there are so many things to do on the island that are unique and less expensive for a solo traveller. Maybe the experience would be different with companions, but the value (specifically food quality) could use a bump up.

Not worth the money

Entertaining but food was definitely not worth it. They kept the Mai Tais going though, probably so we would not care about the food.

We enjoyed the outdoor stage performance, particularly the Hawaiian music and the fire dances. The food was good, but we were have preferred more local specialties.

Luau pow

Sitting all the way in the back and not being able to hear, too far away. Some of the hotel patrons that didn’t pay could sit and watch from the same vantage point as us while they smoked cigarettes and ruined our environment. The busy traffic circle behind us was noisy and diesel exhaust from the emergency vehicles right behind us was terrible. The band took a lot of breaks. The liquor was off brand. Food was mediocre at best and desert was a joke. All that for $130/person. Save your money and just go out to dinner somewhere.
