  • Children must be accompanied by an adult and must have proper safety seats as required by Hawaii state law through age 7 (seats will be provided only upon request at time of booking).
  • HOTEL pick-up is offered for this tour in the HILO area only. We highly recommend accommodations in Hilo. If you are staying in Kona or outside of Hilo, we will arrange to meet you at the Hilo Mo'oheau Bus Terminal (please confirm at time of booking).
  • For CRUISE SHIP passengers, we pick-up directly at Hilo Harbor and will adjust the tour time and itinerary as needed to accommodate your ships time in port.
  • For a one DAY TRIP to the Big Island, please make your travel arrangements to and from the Hilo International Airport.

I could give Jill, our guide 6 stars. We had to do a couple of detours during our tour and she was amenable. Jill's knowledge of Kona and Hilo was impressive. The tour got us to visit Greenwell Farm a family owned coffee bean producer, Akaka Waterfall, National Volcano Park and Black Sand Beach. The views were breathtaking.

Josh was awesome! Such a great day filled with one thing after another!! We were lucky to see the sea turtles at the black sand beach. We got to have the best donuts ever a local bakery, lunch at a local place too! Best Mocha Iced Coffee! Got to see the volcanoes! Volcano tube! Volcano steam vents! Waterfalls! One beautiful scene after another while Josh gave us the history of the Big Island! Too much to list them all! I would highly recommend this to EVERYONE!!! WE LOVED EVERY second of this 12 hour tour!!

Josh at Mauka Makai Adventures is AWESOME!! In less than 20 minutes I knew the 12 hour adventure was going to be the best. Within 2 hours I felt like I had grown up on the island. We stopped for a real Hawaiian lunch that was big enough one plate served 2 and we like to eat! Josh loves his island and loves his job and I can't simply tell you enough how much we got for our money! This tour made the whole trip worth it and it was just one day out of 9!!
