As a periodic visitor to the UK, twenty years ago I visited this same centre when exhibits were in one room and the gift shop in the first room from the front door, staffed by people who could answer questions and give a brief overview. I was dating a nice lady whose interest in Jane Austen prompted me to go. . Recently, the young lady -now my wife- and I visited again, and what a difference, with a tea room on the third floor, and numerous rooms with exhibits, videos, guides, or a combo. The exhibits covered Ms. Austen and the town of Bath while she lived here. A nice tea room occupied was near the top. . A labor of love of many hands shows. I believe Jane Austen fans will be very pleased to have this on their Bath bucket list. This is not run as a "heritage" site or anything like that - it is staffed by a core of Jane Austen devotees, and is improved through gifts of time and tangibles. It was a treat to see all the changes. . I didn't find all the finesse that a state-run museum might offer, but I was not disappointed,. Tip - When you buy or pick up your tickets (online: voucher only) - see the gift shop first -, you'll be given a blue card entitling you to a discount both at the shop and the tea room.
