Austin in a Nutshell Bike Tour with a Local Guide

Overall, this was a good trip. Though we had been riding mostly e-bikes the few days before, this ride was fairly flat, so most people handled the regular bikes okay. There were a few times when we stopped in the sun though there was shade nearby, so that was a little frustrating being from a milder climate and it being in the high 90’s that day. We would have liked an earlier ride to have been offered. I would have also appreciated the basics of riding the bikes in Austin. Different localities have different biking laws and riders have different levels of abilities with bikes, so best to assume everyone knows nothing and do a short spiel at the beginning so everyone’s on the same page. Plenty of water was available for each rider. We brought our own reservoir packs, but it seemed like there was enough for all during the trip and water provided at the end of the trip as well. During the tour. We hit Barton Springs, a couple parks, Congress bridge, the pedestrian bridge, and the Capitol building. I would have liked to have seen some more of the Capitol grounds, but maybe you can’t bike around in there? This tour was fine, but I don’t think the guide provided much more value than if we had just done this on our own at a cooler time of day.

The ride was fun and not too hard. The heat was surprising. I would do it again. I liked that they provided plenty of water.

Tanner was a great guide! Full of great info, fun stories and super recommendations. It was a great way to see the city and learn some Austin History. Definitely recommend!

Parker is an excellent guide. This personalized, guided tour is the best way to see Austin. Riding along side of the river was beautiful. It was a great experience! Thank you!

Our guide Tanner led us on a 2 hour tour that included not only important Austin sites like the Capital building and Congress bridge but also local gems you can get to on a bike like Zilker Park, the Barton Springs pool and hillside, the Stevie Ray Vaughan monument, the Victorian buildings in the city’s northeast side, along with a couple of places where you can see the bats. Tanner was very enthusiastic and really made us excited to experience Austin. The reason this review is not five stars is that the bikes themselves weren’t in peak condition-all older with a lot of wear. They were workhorses though and got our group through the tour without incident.

We were in Austin just for a weekend. Booked this tour for five family members as we had time to kill for late afternoon wedding. Had a great time and felt we got a little history and flavor of the city while burning a little energy. Our guide Parker was great! Fun, knowledgeable, but also conscious of our safety and wellbeing. 3 of the 5 were out of shape and hadn't ridden bike for years, but were still able to do this 10 mile route. Not too strenuous and had right amount of stops. We highly recommend this tour!

Avery was kind, patient, knowledgeable. He adapted to our variety of levels and ages. The tour was perfect. Only change was the people along walk way in beginning didn’t heed to bikes. Suggest putting bell on all bikes or horn?

Such a great fun tour along the river and through the downtown . Tanner was outstanding and informative and made it an awesome afternoon

Michael was amazing and he made the bike tour fun. When I come back to Austin I really want to do the tour again.
