The Basics

Discover many of the country’s most treasured documents at the National Archives Museum, and learn more about America’s history. Explore interactive exhibitions at the Public Vaults and get hands-on with history at the family-focused Boeing Learning Center, packed with creative activities. Head to the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom to see the country’s founding documents (accompanied by the vibrant Faulkner Murals), and visit the Record of Rights Gallery to view a copy of the Magna Carta.

In addition to its permanent collection, the National Archives Museum also showcases temporary exhibitions, so it’s worth checking the online calendar when planning a visit.

Best day tour!
Nick was a wonderful tour guide! We left on time and he gave wonderful information and kept it fun. We didn’t feel rushed and saw so many things it would have been difficult to see on our own in a day. Highly recommend USA Tours. It was booked easily via Viator and the whole thing was a breeze.

Private Guided Tour in National Archives Building
Jennifer was wonderful! She brought a new prospective to the experience that we would never have expected. She felt more like a friend than a tour guide. We learned more history behind the documents than we thought we would. Due to the circumstances of COVID we were unable to see everything that is usually available, be she made us feel like we didn’t miss a thing. We highly recommend the private tour.

Private Guided Tour in National Archives Building
Brenda was a great guide. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of the National Archives but will tailor the tour to your interests. We focused on the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights and 19th Amendment. If you’re an American History nerd this tour will provide you with all of the detail other tours aren’t able to. Highly recommend.

Best of DC Tour - With Access to US Capitol Grounds & National Archives Building
The tour guide did a good job, and the tour ran smoothly except for a long delay waiting for our boxed lunches. The bus was clean and air-conditioned. We saw a lot, but it was very disappointing that we were unable to go into the Capitol Building (although not the tour company’s fault). Thank you.

Private Guided Tour in National Archives Building
Jennifer was tremendous. I booked this tour for me and my wife because we wanted to understand some of the significance of what we were looking at in the archives, rather than just going to see the documents and exhibits. Jennifer was fun and delightful and really helped explain the history of the paintings and the declaration in a fun and interesting way. Totally worth it - and I’d recommend the experience to anyone :)

Not like any history class you’ve Ever taken! Nick our guide was wonderful. Managed the tour group, elements and kept us entertained. Highly recommend the six hour tour. We had a nice stop for lunch at the Washington Harbor instead Of a food court.
