The basics

ZooTampa sits just outside the city center, making it easy to visit during a day in Tampa. Animal habitats include panthers, manatees, elephants, hippos, rhinos, orangutans, and penguins, with options for backstage encounters. Visits to the zoo become even more exciting with the train, carousel, small roller coaster, open-air safari ride, and Roaring Springs water ride.

Admission can be purchased online in advance so you don’t have to wait in the ticket line. If you’re planning to visit other Tampa attractions, consider a combo ticket or city pass, which include attractions such as Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Florida Aquarium, and the Museum of Science and Industry. Some Orlando sightseeing passes also include ZooTampa and other Tampa sites.

My most memorable experience was seeing the rescued manatees. I also enjoyed seeing the Florida panthers.

We specially enjoyed the variety of birds the Zoo has, our youngest son loved the orangutans and the staff is very friendly.

My favorites were the penguins and definitely the manatee exhibit! A little disappointed that the Safari ride was not operating. It was fun to see all the people getting wet just watching the water coaster!

Awesome Zoo. Would need an actual full day to enjoy all of it. We enjoyed the Asia area the most. Only negative was you could never find someone who worked there other than the employees working the food/shops.
