The Basics

Due to the Leaning Tower of Pisa's global renown and unstable subsoil, tickets to the 12th-century tower are strictly limited and visits are timed; booking in advance is a must and skip-the-line tickets are highly recommended.

All Pisa tours cover the Leaning Tower, generally depart from Florence or Rome, and often include other sites such as the Piazza dei Miracoli and the Piazza dei Cavalieri, which boast the sublime Pisa Baptistry and Duomo. Travelers short on time can combine a visit to Pisa with whistle-stop tours of Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano, and Florence, all of which travel through the serene Tuscan countryside.

It was phenomenal to be able to climb the leaning tower and see the view from the top. To imagine how many people Thant climbed the steps because they were so worn!

Small Group Tour: Cinque Terre with the Leaning Tower of Pisa
This trip was incredible. Our in guidance put their heart and soul into the tour. They did anything and everything they could to ensure we had a wonderful time. It is a very long full day, but completely worth it. Not only do you get to see the Leaning Tower Pisa but an absolutely gorgeous coast line and multiple little coastal villages. Including the one that the movie Luca was inspired by. Highly recommend, the tour and the guides or 5+ stars.

Pisa from Florence afternoon Tour including Skip-the-Line Leaning Tower Ticket
This was a very enjoyable tour. The ride was in a newer, clean Mercedes that was very comfortable and driven by a safe driver. When we arrived in Pisa we were greeted by our guide who took us to the Leaning Tower and told us the history of how it came to be. We then went inside the cathedral and she explained a lot of history about it. She was with the group (a nice small group of 4) for approximately an hour then there was time to do independent walking around the area before it was time to climb the tower. I found the area amazing. It was really beautiful. I don't know if it's because of the pandemic, the time of year, or that it was a Monday, but it wasn't too crowded. The tour left Florence at 1:30. My only suggestion to Viator is to leave earlier in the day. We ran into very heavy traffic on the return leaving Pisa around 5:20 and not getting back to the pickup/dropoff location until a little after 7.

Pisa all inclusive: Baptistery, Cathedral and Leaning Tower guided tour
Everything was memorable. Alessia was excellent and she was extremely detailed. She covered everything and I enjoyed the options she gave about historical data. She answered all questions and was very knowledgeable in her subject areas. She made sure we understood the history and location of the sites we viewed on our own. I have been on several church tours and she presented new and different religious information. I would definitely recommend her as an exceptional religious tour guide. Outstanding job Alessia !

Private Pisa Discovery Walking Tour with Leaning Tower Access
This is a tour I wouldn’t miss in Pisa. Our tour guide, Silvia, was knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible with the crazy weather we had that day. She pointed out many things we would have missed and shared Pisa’s very interesting history.

Square of Miracles guided tour with Leaning Tower ticket (option)
Great tour. Andrea gave us a fab tour, pitched perfectly for the family (children aged 10 and 12) covering the Baptistry, Cathedral, Cemetery and Leaning Tower. We visited inside the Cathedral and Tower. Children were engaged.

When to Get There

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is open daily from morning until evening, although exact hours differ from month to month. What to do in Pisa

While the tilted tower is undeniably Pisa's most well-known attraction, the Tuscan city has plenty to offer curious visitors. Stop by the Romanesque Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral; visit the beautiful and well-curated Cathedral Museum; and don't miss the lush Orto Botanico, supposedly the first university botanical garden in Europe.
