Asahi Beer Suita Factory
Learn about how one of Japan’s most ubiquitous beers is made with a visit to Asahi Beer Suita Factory, the company's first brewery, built in 1891. Asahi offers daily tours, during which guests see, smell, and touch the hops and barley, along with other ingredients that go into brewing one of Japan’s best-known beers.
The basics
The in-depth guided tours at Asahi Beer Suita Factory introduce visitors to the manufacturing process and the latest technology used. Tours last around 90 minutes, which includes 20 minutes of tastings. Guests are offered sampling glasses and for the time allotted, tastings are bottomless. While sipping on different beers, guests can enjoy an expansive garden and Asahi's World Can Collection, an enormous display of more than 3,000 beer cans from all over the world.

When to get there
Brewery tours are offered every 30 minutes between morning and mid-afternoon on most days (check the schedule on the official website for details). It is strongly recommended to make reservations beforehand by phone—especially if you need an English-speaking guide—as tours often fill up.
The Brewery Shop
Besides the opportunity to take a tour of the brewery, it’s worth making the effort to visit Asahi Beer Suita Factory for the shop alone. The factory’s on-site gift shop sells a wide range of Asahi products and memorabilia, some of which you cannot buy anywhere else.
