The Basics

A 30-minute ride in one of the 32 glass capsules offers panoramic views, so travelers can spot London highlights such as St Paul's Cathedral and Buckingham Palace from every angle. One rotation takes 30 minutes, with the structure rotating at a fairly slow speed, meaning visitors are free to walk about their capsule and take photos from all sides.

With more than 3.5 million annual visitors, lines for the London Eye's capsules can get quite long. Pre-booking a fast-track ticket is the best way to maximize your time in England's capital. Travelers with a penchant for luxury can opt to sip champagne while they ride. Many tours combine a rotation on the wheel with other popular London activities such as afternoon tea, a Thames River cruise, a hop-on, hop-off bus tour, or a city tour that covers top sites, including the Tower of London and London Dungeon.

London Eye Fast-Track Ticket with Hop-On Hop-Off Tour and River Cruise
The view from the london eye are amazing, you could see Buckingham palace and all over London very clearly. We had a hop on hop off 48 hour bus ticket for the big bus company. We thought that this was fantastic you get to go around all of the sights with an audio guide it is really worth the money. We are coming back next year and bringing more family.

London Eye Standard Ticket
Well set up. Easy to know where to go. There was a long queue but it did move quickly. You could see the pods were being cleaned before we went in and they weren’t over crowded. I’d say there were around 15 of us.

I came with my mum in the summer holidays. The tour was wonderful, especially the Tour Guide who was called Drew. He was friendly and funny- cracking lots of jokes. The toilets were very clean and i felt it was really worth it. Only thing i would say is that at times i could not hear the tour operator over the sound of the water

AJ was amazing. He gave a very entertaining and informative talk. The boat was clean and the staff friendly. We wouldn’t do the eye again but would do the boat.

London Eye River Cruise and Standard London Eye Ticket
I have been to London before, but my daughter hadn't, so we were looking for some "full tourist experience" things to do, and this was one of her choices. The Eye was interesting and gave some great views over London, but, quite unexpectedly, it was the Thames cruise that was the highlight. Liam, the guide, was fantastic, the weather was gorgeous, and the views from the river were great. Very excellent experience overall, and very cost-effective!

Guide was very nice. Cab was not ordered wanted a car. It was booked for 2pm but reached at 3pm. That delayed our other programs.

Big Bus London Hop-On Hop-Off Tour and River Cruise
Was a great way to see London and hop on and off at places you want to see, its also great to have the cruise included to see more of the site. We had a great time and have pointed and places we would like to go back and visit. Will definately recomment this to people and use this service again in other cities.

The tour guide (sherry/cherie) was fantastic . So informative and funny, she kept us entertained the entire time. The boat was clean and comfortable.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Take a spin on the London Eye at the start of your London vacation to orient yourself and grasp the layout of the capital city's seemingly endless sprawl.

  • On a clear day, it may be possible to spy Windsor Castle on the horizon from one of the capsules.

  • If gray skies threaten rain, nearby indoor activities abound: the SEA LIFE London Aquarium, the BFI IMAX cinema, Madame Tussauds London, and Shrek's Adventure ensure kids and adults stay entertained during a storm.

How to Get There

Located on the south bank of the River Thames. The easiest way to reach it is by tube to Waterloo station, which is serviced by the Jubilee, Northern, Bakerloo, and Waterloo and City lines. From the station, it's a 5- to 10-minute walk. Visitors traveling on the District or Circle line can disembark at Westminster station for a scenic walk across Westminster Bridge. Surrounding the Eye are street performers, food stalls, and fairground attractions in Jubilee Gardens.

Unlucky 13

It's no accident that the London Eye has 32 capsules—each one represents one of the city's 32 boroughs. However, observant visitors will notice that the last capsule is actually No. 33—the creators skipped pod No. 13, deeming it unlucky.
