The Basics

For anyone with an interest in WWII history or British politics, the Churchill War Rooms and Museum are an absolute must. They are divided into two areas: the original Cabinet War Rooms, including the all-important Map Room, and the Churchill Museum, which chronicles the life and work of the revered wartime leader. You can explore the exhibits independently with the aid of a complimentary audio guide. Some organized excursions combine entrance to the Churchill War Rooms with guided tours of Westminster Abbey and nearby WWII sites. London Pass holders get free entry to the Churchill War Rooms.

Westminster 3 Hour Walking Tour & Visit Churchill War Rooms
Chris was the guide and his knowledge of the area and the places that he took us to visit was excellent. We were a group of about 15, from memory there was 3 people from the USA, A couple from Poland and the rest from the UK. The knowledge of the people within the group was very good also so this added to the experience. The highlight was the Churchill war rooms which we included as part of our tour whilst the rest of the party continued their tour. All in all an excellent 5.5 hours spent thanks to Chris and the wonderful group that we shared our day with. We highly recommend this tour.

Winston Churchill's London and The Churchill War Rooms - A Private Tour.
Richard was an amazing tour guide- personable and extremely knowledgable and pleasant. It was by far the best private tour I've had and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an intellectually stimulating and learning experience. He made Sir Winston come alive for us! I can't wait to come back again. Gabe and Cathy Rizzi #lovedit!

Historical London Walking Tour in Westminster & Churchill War Rooms Entry
Wonderful tour. Guide was well informed and interjected humor where appropriate. The churchill Wonderful tour. The guide was well informed. The group was just the right size so that everyone had ample opportunity to ask questions. The Churchill War Rooms were awe inspiring. Could really picture the activities going on in those desperate times. Recommending to friends as a must experience activity.

Winston Churchill's London and The Churchill War Rooms - A Private Tour.
Richard was fantastic. He met us at our hotel and walked for a few hours around the city as he talked about all of the historical spots. He took us by my favorite perfume store for a sniff of Winston’s favorite cologne. We had to buy some too. We also stopped in at his cigar shop and tailor shop where we did a little shopping too. When I booked this tour, I booked it as a treat for my husband, but I loved it just as much as he did. A fantastic overall day for sure.

Our guide, Pepe, made the tour informative and fun. In spite of being a busy day in the City, NYE, he kept the group safely to the Churchill bunkers. The self guided tour was quite interesting.

Gavin was so entertaining, passionate and knowledgeable. He had so many facts (and pictures also) for the Churchill War Rooms and our walking tour. We had a group of about 20 people and he held everyone's attention with his enthusiasm and energy. We took 5 tours through Viator in England and this was our favorite thanks to Gavin!

Exploring WWII History in London

The Churchill War Rooms are not the only attraction in town to delve into WWII history. The Imperial War Museum in Lambeth, South London, also features WWII-oriented exhibits. A stone’s throw away on the South Bank sits HMSBelfast, a warship that took part in the Normandy landings in 1944, while Parliament Square hosts a statue of Winston Churchill. Bletchley Park, the Victorian estate where British intelligence cracked Germany’s enigma code, is within day-tripping distance of London.
