The Basics

There are few better ways to feel like a Londoner than a stroll around Borough Market. With more than 100 stalls selling everything from Italian cheese and Morecambe Bay shrimp to housemade fudge and fresh-from-the-oven baked goods, the legendary marketplace is a popular inclusion on London food tours. A walking tour with a local guide will give you the inside scoop on the most popular vendors and best prices.

Charlotte was a lovely tour guide with two tour guides in training who made the experience feel like a trip with friends! Couldn’t have asked for a better 11am vibe on my post-7am flight in from the US. Loved every minute of the tour.

Chris provided great expertise and commentary as we went. The food offerings were abundant, interesting, and delightful. There was not a great deal of walking, and the Borough Market was a fascinating riot of colors, flavors, and new adventures we had not anticipated. We would highly recommend this tour for others.

Borough Market Food Tour with a Foodie Tailored to Your Tastes & Interests ★★★★★
We enjoyed this tour, and Becky was one of the main reasons. Great conversations and recommendations on the market. Once we were stuffed at the market, we had a nice stroll on the river as she pointed out several interesting and historical items.

Nice opportunity to see the market, taste delicious food and hear about its beginnings. Would have loved to try the curry or paella vs the cheese board.

I was very happy to find out on meeting the guide just near borough market that it was just going to me and the tour guide. He took me along for a fantastic walk and we saw some amazing places and learnt some great facts. He left me at the Tate modern which I explored for 2 hours. I would definitely recommend for the young and old.

Secret Food Tour: London Bridge & Borough Market w/ Private Tour Option
This is a review of the food tour on Friday April 8th, 2022. I’m fairly certain Dan was our guide and boy was he great! Not only did he take us to hot spots in Borough Market, but also gave us a brief history of the market and surrounding area. We had two occasions where we were all sitting at a big table sharing some nibbles and Dan was sure to make everyone feel included. It didn’t hurt that we had an awesome group of people and we all got on very well. Dan has a great personality. I would do the same exact tour again just to hang out with him. He knows how to hold court - an essential quality in London life. Warm wishes, Jennifer B from California.

How to Get There

Borough Market is located in London Bridge on the south side of the River Thames and just a short stroll from the bridge itself and The Shard. The easiest way to get there is on the Tube, and the closest station is London Bridge on the Northern and Jubilee lines. Driving is not recommended as the market is in the congestion-charge zone and there’s no on-site parking.

When to Get There

Borough Market is open from Wednesday to Saturday, with a smaller market held on Mondays and Tuesdays. To avoid crowds, arrive early on a Saturday morning or come on a weekday afternoon. However, for the freshest produce and best choice, aim to get there before the lunchtime rush, when sandwiches, baked goods, and made-to-order products might sell out.
