The Basics

Bonaire’s National Marine Park, which encircles most of the island, is well-known for its conservation of marine resources. Explore on a snorkel tour, and spot tropical fish and marine mammals among the brightly-colored coral. Some tours include a sailing trip around the island, others include visits to Bonaire highlights—such as the hilltop Seru Largu lookout point, Gotomeer lagoon (home to a large population of flamingos), and the salt flats—in an air-conditioned vehicle.

AN EXCELLENT EXCURSION

Bonaire Marine Park Snorkeling Excursion
The snorkeling is about as good as it gets for a cruise ship excursion. Daniel and his crew were very friendly, safety conscious always with a crew member in the water with us. Daniel also explained very carefully where the best areas were and what to expect.

Bonaire Marine Park Snorkeling Excursion
Great captain Daniel and his first mate Anuk exceeded expectations. The boat was good quality and so was the equipment. Lots of beautiful fish identified by Anuk. We love Bonaire and will return!

This was a great trip and a lot of fun snorkeling. Great customer service we were picked up at the cruise port and brought back so it was great if you were on a cruise.

Excellent snorkeling trip

Bonaire Marine Park Snorkeling Excursion
This excursion had wonderful snorkeling opportunities at 2 different locations. The first was in the Marine Park and the second was off the coast of Klein Bonaire. Both sites had excellent coral and lots of beautiful fish. There was plenty of time in the water. Daniel was very friendly and helpful, and excellent boat captain. Anuk was our snorkeling guide and she did a fantastic job. We highly recommend this excursion.

Great time snorkeling in Bonaire

Bonaire Marine Park Snorkeling Excursion
Met with Daniel, the tour leader at port with ease. After a quick van ride we got on a speed boat and enjoyed a relaxing boat ride to our snorkel sites. We were guided in the water by a capable and enthusiastic gal named Anuk. We saw a great amount of fish and my husband even saw a turtle. We had ample time to snorkel at both locations. We would do this excursion again.

Snorkel adventure of a lifetime!

Bonaire Marine Park Snorkeling Excursion
This was truly an excursion of a lifetime! Daniel and Nanook were very kind and went out of their way to make this experience special (even took us out early so we could get back to the cruise ship on time). They provided great guidance and information about the area, marine life and how to get the most out of our experience. The equipment was top quality and having a small group (10) was so nice versus the large bus tour groups! The first site was like swimming in an aquarium....we have never had an experience like this! The variety, amount and sizes of the fish was amazing! We also went drift snorkeling, which was a new experience and also provided plenty of fish to see. We highly recommend you choose Daniel and his tour. You won’t be disappointed!

Best tour ever

Bonaire Marine Park Snorkeling Excursion
This tour was excellent and our favorite of 5 cruise ports. We were met right at the pier and our guide was super friendly. We had a ride in a very nice air conditioned shuttle to the harbor. Small boat with only about 10 people on trip. The other guide Anuk guided us all to the best snorkeling ever. Literally unbelievable. Bonaire is a dream. Note that the ladder to get back up on the boat is really small and it was a little hard for me and others to get back on but the guides assisted so it was not a problem. We would definitely book with Aqua Fun again.

Bonaire Marine Park Snorkeling Excursion
Daniel was there to great us right at the port and escorted us to a taxi to take us to the marina. (As opposed to us having to provide our own transportation (which would have been easy but we still appreciated the extra effort). We loved that the tour was limited to only ten people. My husband I were impressed with the quality of the snorkelling equipment and also that Daniel took the time to tell us about what to look for. Anuk (I probably did not spell that correctly) was lovely, guided us in the water, as did Daniel - another plus. They provided us with plenty of ice cold drinks, water and a snack. We are seasoned snorkelers who have snorkeled in the Caribbean, Pacific and Indian oceans. The snorkelling was great and we highly recommend.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • All visitors to the marine park are required to purchase an admission ticket to contribute to maintenance and conservation.

  • Bonaire National Marine Park is an ideal place for scuba diving, however all divers, regardless of experience, must undergo an orientation course for diving.

  • Be sure to take plenty of water and sunscreen on boat trips; the Caribbean sun is very strong.

When to Get There

Bonaire’s tropical climate and absences of hurricanes means that the island is a year-round destination. For the fewest crowds and best hotel rates, visit outside of the peak tourist season, which runs from May through October.

Klein Bonaire

Just off the western shore of Bonaire, tucked into the crook of the main island’s natural crescent shape, sits the islet of Klein Bonaire. This uninhabited, low-lying island only rises six feet (1.8 meters) out of the water, but it boasts a handful of ruins dating from the colonial era and an often deserted beach called No Name Beach, both of which make the island an interesting day trip.
