The Basics

For the most comprehensive view of the Na Pali Coast, take a helicopter or flightseeing tour from Lihue or Princeville that will take you over top sights like Waimea Canyon and the Manawaiopuna Falls. For a closer look, opt for a guided kayaking trip along the dramatic Na Pali cliffs or choose a boat tour that includes a snorkeling or sailing adventure or a sunset dinner cruises. You can also hike the Kalalau Trail, which traverses 11 miles (17 kilometers) and provides access to remote beaches and hidden sea caves.

RAFT ADVENTURE - Na Pali 1/2 Day Snorkel
Ein & Gabe were amazing! The Na Pali coast was stunning- we got both a panoramic view then Ein brought us up close in & our of sea caves. Along the way we saw dolphins & a huge sea turtle right next to our boat!. The snorkeling was great- lots of beautiful fish & my daughter swam with a sea turtle! The ride back was bumpy but super fun! A must when visiting Kauai

LUCKY LADY - Deluxe Na Pali Sunset Snorkel Cruise
It was a beautiful afternoon on the Lucky Lady going up the Na’Pali Coast. The winds really picked up and we couldn’t snorkel, but Captain Kauai made it worth the while and gave us an ongoing oral presentation of the coast and it’s history. The sunset was amazing on the way home.

Na Pali Coast Kauai Snorkel and Sail
It was an amazing experience. The food, the views, the service was all top notch. We even had a couple of family members experience motion sickness but everyone was so helpful and our surroundings were so fabulous that it didn’t even matter. Just tons of beautiful memories to hold on to for years to come. Thanks Captain Mike, Jess and Kekoa/sp? for an unforgettable day on the Na’Pali coast.

LUCKY LADY - Deluxe Na Pali Morning Snorkel Tour
The beauty of the Na Pali coast and the surrounding waters. The help and knowledge of the entire crew was impressive, and made for a great tour. We were lucky enough to see a lot of marine life and spend extra time taking pictures and enjoying the experience.

Ni'ihau and Na Pali Coast Super Snorkel Cruise
Snorkelling with Monk Seals off Ni'ihau and the Na Pali coast scenery. Crew were great. Note this is the only cruise on offer that goes to Ni'ihau daily.

Ni'ihau and Na Pali Coast Super Snorkel Cruise
Was a very unique experience. Crew was excellent with passenger safety and attentive to needs and pleasurable experience. A couple people got motion sickness and crew on top of it at all times. Breakfast and lunch were good too! For others reviewing this, I would recommend if you are susceptible to motion sickness, consider another adventure because ride back to port is an adventure in and of itself. If not, jump on board and have a great time!

Na Pali Sunset & Sightsee Dinner Cruise
All the staff were extremely professional and used safety precautions throughout the sail. We were given brief instructions by our captain and then we walked to the boat. The crew (Asa and Jay) were so great! The views were beautiful and there were many photo opportunities. The food was delicious, too! It was so great to have appetizers and then dinner later. We enjoyed the best Mai Tai on the island, too! We had a perfect sunset and would highly recommend this excursion!

Na Pali Sunset & Sightsee Dinner Cruise
The Holo Holo experience was magic. Unforgettable views, lightning quick trip up the coast, nice slow return voyage with photo ops. The crew Brian and Jay took of everyone with wonderful humor and hospitality, sharing local knowledge and literally looking after safety issues. The captain Christian was fun and gave context to the coastline. This was a meaningful experience not a booze cruise - thanks for showing us the coast, guys!

How to Get There

The Na Pali Coast stretches for 16 miles (26 kilometers) along Kauai’s northwest shore. No roads lead into the Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park, and much of the coast is inaccessible due its extremely rugged terrain and sheer cliffs. To reach the trailhead for the Kalalau Trail, follow highway 560 to the end of the road, just past Ha’ena State Park.

When to Get There

Kauai’s weather is stable all year round, which makes it an excellent destination anytime of the year. The best time to hike the Kalalau Trail is during the dry season, which lasts from May through October. Winter is whale watching season, making it a great time for boat tours.

Hiking the Kalalau (Na Pali Coast) Trail

The Na Pali coastline is only accessible by foot via the Kalalau Trail. Backpackers typically take 3 days or more to make this incredibly scenic 22-mile (34-kilometer) round-trip journey. The trail traverses steep cliffs, requires several river crossings, and is very strenuous in spots. Day hikers can venture to Hanakapi’ai Falls, but permits are required to hike past the falls, even if you don’t plan to camp.
