The Basics

While the canyon itself is an obvious draw, there’s much more to Grand Canyon National Park than its stunning geology. The area is a hiker’s paradise, a haven for desert flora and fauna, and a rich historical site—ancient ruins, lava fields, volcanic remnants, and sweeping views are just a few of the park’s many highlights. The Grand Canyon’s South Rim and West Rim tend to be the most popular areas to visit.

Adventurous travelers can take a day hike on the famous Bright Angel Trail; head out on a white-water rafting trip; hop into the saddle of a sure-footed mule; or soar high above the canyon on a helicopter tour from Phoenix or Las Vegas. Bus tours from Flagstaff and Sedona also allow visitors to see a wide range of sites, including ancient Wupatki ruins, Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, and the historic Cameron Trading Post. For a scenic treat, head to the Grand Canyon on a evening tour to photograph the park’s spectacular sunset and perhaps enjoy dinner at Bright Angel Lodge.

Great price for a great time
Laila was a great and personable tour guide. Not only that, but the stops on the way to the canyon made it feel like we weren't trapped in a car for too long. I traveled solo, and I didn't have a difficult time at all connecting with the people on the tour and having a great time. Overall, it was a great experience for a great price.

One of the best tours

Day Tour Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon(Closed by Covid 19) and Horseshoe Bend
Our tour guide (Tom) was fantastic. Even though we were a group of 3, he still took us to all of the places listed and more. Due to Covid, we were unable to go to Antelope Canyon and the East Rim of Grand Canyon. Tom has amazing photography skills and took great photos of us. I would highly recommend him.

Sedona and Grand Canyon Single Day Tour
We had a great day on our Sedona and Grand Canyon tour. Our tour guide, Diana, was excellent! She was friendly and very knowledgeable about the areas we explored and had great recommendations. The ride was comfortable, clean and had everything needed for a long day including drinks and snacks. We would definitely recommend this adventure to others.

Day Tour Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon(Closed by Covid 19) and Horseshoe Bend
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent experience. Our tour guide Ryu was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make sure that we saw all the main sites of the national parks. He took so many amazing photos of us. Definitely a bummer that Antelope canyon was closed, but Lake powell, zion (Quick stop through via the scenic drive), the grand canyon, and Horseshoe bend were absolutely amazing especially for first time visitors. 100% would do this tour again.

A Driver, but no Guide?

Grand Canyon National Park, Hoover Dam and Route 66 Small Group from Las Vegas
This tour is well-planned and -organized, but ... our guide, Anthony, was very polite and a good driver but he had absolutely NOTHING to say about the scenery or the things that we passed on the road. This is a 14-hour tour, so he could have made more of an effort to be a “guide” vs. “driver”. Also, we were taken to a questionable Subway for lunch ... two of the 5 guests had bad tummies from the meat in the sandwiches.

Grand Canyon and Sedona Day Adventure from Scottsdale or Phoenix
So glad we did it. Early getup and a long drive but it actually isn’t too bad. Lots of scenery along the way. There’s no way we could come to AZ and not see the Grand Canyon so well worth it for us. Sedona is awesome. The guide was great; very friendly and accommodating.

Grand Canyon National Park, Hoover Dam and Route 66 Small Group from Las Vegas
Anthony was the absolute best. We meet 2 other couples and will maintain contact with them. The weather was cold and cloudy, but one of the best trips we have ever been on. If we get back to vegas/the grand canyon we will request another trip with Anthony.

Life changing experience with a Grand Canyon honeymoon

Grand Canyon: 4-in-1 Grand Circle Two-Day Tour from Las Vegas
This two day tour was part of my honeymoon, since I got married two days prior to the tour, and it was definitely part of the most breathtaking and romantic experience I have ever had. JB was aware of the occasion and always did his best to guarantee us the best possible experience. Because of COVID restrictions, the tour plan had to be changed (Seligman and Sedona, Arizona instead of Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon) but it was certainly worthy. I would definitely recommend booking a tour with the Fun Group and JB if you are ever in Las Vegas. We had great and constant communication with JB, which made our tour go nice and smoothly.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Remember to bring sun protection, hiking shoes, and plenty of water.

  • Bring warm layers—the elevation of Grand Canyon Village is 6,800 feet (2,074 meters), so cool temperatures are common in the evenings.

  • The canyon’s four rims are quite far from one another, meaning that travelers should choose the area best suited for them for their visit.

  • To save time, take advantage of the shuttle bus that runs between the park’s many lookouts.

  • All park shuttles are wheelchair accessible, but visitors using wheelchairs may need assistance on the rocky terrain.

How to Get There

The easiest way to get to Grand Canyon National Park is by road or guided tour. The canyon’s South Rim is 60 miles (97 kilometers) north of Williams and 80 miles (129 kilometers) northwest of Flagstaff, while the North Rim is 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Jacob Lake. The town of Tusayan is only seven miles (11 kilometers) from Grand Canyon Village, and free shuttles connect Tusayan with the South Rim in summer. The West Rim is the most easily accessible area from Las Vegas.
