It also remains a beloved family home. Explore the hall and grounds at your leisure before stopping by the farm shop or grabbing lunch at the on-site café.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Doddington Hall & Gardens is a must for history and architecture buffs.
  • Children age 4 and under enter for free, while those over age 4 pay half the adult rate. Family tickets are also available.

  • The upper floors of Doddington Hall aren’t accessible to wheelchairs and strollers, and grass and gravel limit access to the gardens.
How to Get There

Just 5 miles (8 kilometers) outside of Lincoln, Doddington Hall & Gardens is easiest to reach by car. Take the A46 Newark road or the A57 road, and follow the signs on the approach to Lincoln. On-site parking is free. Alternatively, travel by train to Newark Northgate station or Lincoln station, then hop in a taxi to Doddington Hall & Gardens.
When to Get There
Doddington Hall & Gardens is typically open on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, from 12pm to 4:30pm, between early April and late September. The various on-site shops and eateries are open daily. Seasonal events and activities often take place on holidays such as Christmas and Easter—check the website.  
The Gardens at Doddington Hall

The sprawling, carefully restored gardens at Doddington Hall stay faithful to the original Elizabethan layout. Framing the front of the hall are the East Gardens, complete with topiary unicorns. The West Garden is more plant-focused and colorful, filled with daffodils and irises. Meanwhile, the Wild Gardens promise a more rugged feel, while the Kitchen Garden is a riot of fruit, herbs, and vegetables.
